I came across Ali Edwards' A Week in the Life Project from some of the blogs I follow. I am already doing a similar project now = 365 days, in which I take and post a pic each day of the year. I haven't missed a day yet since January 1st.
Lately though, I haven't been as excited about it. I've been somewhat pre-occupied and 'stuck' at home, caring for my newborn and recovering from my surgery. And upon seeing how everyone is going to this paradise or this happy place during the summer on Facebook, my pics have become 'boring.' Aaaaah, FB...it's a really bad addiction and influence.
Thought I'd take up the project though.... especially since I went to Ali's blog and saw her pictures. Then, the final kicker was when I read (and fell in love) with this quote from Amy Tangerine's blog:
"In this world, somehow an ordinary life has become synonymous with a meaningless life. And so often we are missing what is truly important because we are on the quest for what is extraordinary. Not understanding that in our ordinary lives, in the ordinary moments of our lives, is really where we can find the most joy. " - Brene Brown
It's true. When I look back five, ten years from now, I will be missing the everyday, mundane details. So why not document a week? When else could I have this moment...when O is three weeks old and M is just getting to know his brother? And I have my hubby at home for weeks for support? Plus, I do love to document!
Early morning... around 7 am, right before his feeding. So peaceful in his bassinet.
And my tater tot... sleeps just like his mama, with those eyes slightly open. So handsome. I love watching my babies sleep.
My view from my rocking chair. I've got my phone on the iTunes app with the music on. There's a table in the front of me -- a scrubs uniform catalog, some stamps, my calendar. I am forever trying to multitask.
(WARNING: This may be TMI - too much information). Still trying to breastfeed. In the meantime, I am also pumping. My supply is much better than two years ago though. I'm gonna continue doing both. Oh, BFd'ing has been a challenge for me.
Somebody's wide awake and on his bouncer. Look at those big eyes!
A desk with my current projects. It's a mess!
My three boys. How cute that Mattie's trying to help burp Oliver!!! Haha!
Brunch courtesy of Trader Joe's. Blueberries and a croissant-wich.
Ali stated to get some self portraits in there. I got one for today. Right after showering. My hair is getting so long. Debating whether to cut and donate to Locks of Love before it falls off from nursing.
Part of my sissy's present for her upcoming birthday. Not sure if she'll like this wine. Thought the brand was perfect!! LOL!
I got to color some stamped images today. :)
Had time for some MTV and Giants.
My hubby's a good man. Look at that ... it's like porn for women. He did the laundry and is now changing the baby's diaper.
Then, naptime again...
What's bad about staying at home is the online shopping!!!! I do love getting the mail and packages though!
After naptime, Mattie and I got some exercise outside in the sun.
Lovely roses in our garden.
Contemplated on cleaning up the leaves...
I think our neighbors are probably irritated because we played in them instead of raking!!
Was inspired to take a jumping pic like Jo.
Got MK cleaned up for bedtime. My DH found these pants on the clearance rack at Target. I think they're for girls as they have some flare at the end. They were laughing because the pants came up almost to Mattie's chest...just like how Mommy (as I'm super short) wears her pants. BUWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Well, that's it for the first day. The pics were taken in combination with my SLR and my iphone. Not sure if I'll continue taking as many pics as this post took forever to write and the pics to upload. It's pretty nice documenting today though (these were taken on 7/26). Thanks for reading!!
This is so cool Rinne, I loved looking at all the pics and reading their stories! I hope you do it again, but I can understand it being a bear of post to get up! Mattie's Snoopy outfit made me smile, my Mom loves Snoopy and if it was up to her, my siblings and I would still be wearing Snoopy outfits! But she is happy making us Snoopy pillowcases every Christmas!
