Happy Mother's Day.
My friend, Alison, once posted that she is a Stay-At-Home-Mom four days a week. Thought this was so clever so I hope you don't mind if I borrow the term, A!
I am lucky enough to have the best of both worlds (well, almost). I work full time three days of the week, and have four days home with my babies. Of course, most days, I am still 'recovering' from either job but for the most part, I have gotten used to it. My hubby is such a big help...I really am very lucky to have him!
And of course, there's my mom. She watches the boys when I'm at work on weekdays. It amounts to about 2 11-hour days for her. And although she's retired, she is very active in her social life. She loves to catch up with friends and still regularly visits her old job. She drives and picks up MK at the preschool, and then makes sure that dinner is cooked not only for her, my dad, and my sis...but also for my family. I get teary-eyed just thinking about how much she does, and how fortunate I am.
My mom and I haven't always gotten along. She was very strict when I was growing up. I was the eldest, and her first 'teen challenge.' I had been a good kid for the most part, but was considered the black sheep of the family having disobeyed a lot of the rules.
Now that I am a mother myself, I appreciate her so much more. And I hope that my kids never go through that talking back stage (who am I kidding??).
The card was created using scraps and Some Odd Girl's Baby Snuggle Kaylee. She was colored with Copics. And the other star of the card is a felt flower hand-made by Cathy from CatShy Crafts. I just love her creations!
And lastly, I would love to thank my sons, MK and O, for making my childhood dream come true. From a very early age, I had always dreamed of being a mother. And had a terrible fear of not being able to bear children. It hasn't always been easy but I absolutely love being one. This video/ commercial says it all... "The hardest job is the best job."
Happy Mother's Day weekend everybody!
