Finally

Am bummed that i didn't get to scrap in my 3 days off until this 3rd day. Have been busy with work, friends, and my hair (i was tired of the blond highlights so i went goth--yes, of course i have pictures!!).

So, here's my lay-out after what seems like ages. I got some projects done...but it's nothing I could show because they're not my pictures.

I was kinda bummed that I don't have actual pics of when fiance and I got engaged. Here's a pic of my ring taken the day after:

7 things about me...

Ok, Jo tagged me so here goes:

7 Random / Factual Things About Me:

1. I skipped the 5th grade. I had just moved from the Philippines and though it was hard to attend an American school in the 4th grade, I worked my butt off to get the approval of my teacher and parents. I wanted to show the kids who teased me about my accent that even though I pronounced the word "fish" like "pish," that I still beat their asses in spelling and math. :). So everybody thought I was advanced, and I got to skip the 5th grade.

2. I dance in my living room. I pretend I'm on stage, and I dance to latest hits or older songs. When I was younger, my sis and cousins and I would always perform at parties or in school. I enjoyed that very much so I love reminiscing. It's actually one of my "happy" places.

3. I get off on gift-wrapping. I LOVE, LOVE to giftwrap!! I really don't know why, but I think maybe it has something to do with picturing the receiver's face when they see the presentation. Sometimes I get mad that I have tons of wrapping paper but no boxes. Then, what I do is put the gifts in random objects like a shoe box or a perfume container. That would really surprise the receiver!

4. I am both an early bird and a night owl. I can wake up at 7:00 a.m. or earlier and have tons of energy, and I can also watch T.V. or read till midnight.

5. I will die if my house catches on fire. You know what I'll be trying to save when there's a fire? All of my scrapbooks and photos. I have TONS! I better check the batteries on my fire alarms!!

6. I don't remember the first time I met my fiance. Gil and I met sometime in high school (we went to different schools) through our mutual best guy friend. But neither Gil nor Mike nor I remember that particular day. It's funny trying to tell that story....

7. My worst fear is ghosts. When a family member dies, I pray to both God and that person not to visit me. Yes, writing this is causing me to have goose bumps!!

New perspective on DigiScrappin'

i was a little hesitant on jumping the bandwagon on digital scrapbooking.

why?

because i LOVE texture...

and my scrapbooking style isn't simple.

but then i was looking in Two Peas in a Bucket and saw their lay-out of the day by Rhonna Farrer.

I was BLOWN AWAY!!

YESSSS, there IS texture!! I LOVE IT!!!

must save more money!!!.... here's their lay-out:

here's another one (also by Rhonna Farrer):

add an apple laptop to my "things i give up for the wedding list." DINNGGGITT!!!!

P.I.G.'s

I went to Ali Edwards' blog (I love her, too. Who doesn't?), and got inspired by a page she painted on and then wrote on. I dug through some stuff and found old papers, fabrics, and paper towels I had painted on & incorporated them into some scrapping.

things I give up for my wedding

I have a list of things I gave up because of my upcoming wedding. My fiance and I set a budget, and it looks like we're surpassing it. So I put some items on hold, a sort of a wishlist. This includes a nice digital/SLR camera. It'll also decrease my scrapbooking fund by more than half! Scrapbooking challenge or not, I need to start saving. But I'm doing pretty well considering that in less than 2 months, I've done 48 lay-outs, about 10 projects, and lots of cards. So I still need to replenish, right? *LOL* Anyway, I'm tired of my pictures coming out blurry from my regular digital camera. And my SLR isn't very convenient. Someday, I'll get to take nice pictures again!!

So my list consists of:
1. Palm Treo 750 cell phone.
2. Digital / SLR camera.
3. A Birthday Present from Fiance.
4. Scrapbooking supplies down to $100 per month.
5. New Clothes.

With that in mind, I wanted to do a simple lay-out. My last lay-out had like 20 different supplies. This one had 9. Here's the result from yesterday, and it features my lovely niece, Angelina. We had a photo session, and I was disappointed with the way the pics came out. Even with her mom holding a lamp, there just wasn't enough light, and I didn't like the quality of the pics. I used to be really good at photography...

But the pics still captured her beautiful smile. And that's what counts! And maybe by the time I have a baby, I'll have that camera!

classes (2 of 2)

my most favorite class in a long time. it was taught by chris queen rose, and it was so fast...we finished in about half an hour (i added the pics and words later). she is a designer from imagination project, and BOY, did she do good marketing for them. she was friendly, knowledgeable, and my favorite part: she had games and prizes for everyone!! i will definitely take a class from her again! she also encouraged us to tear our paper instead of cutting them, so everyone's finished book looked different (i like this!). she also inspired me to want to someday be a designer.
supplies used-- book made from: imagination project coasters; papers: imagination project in gin-x--as you wish line; rub-ons: doodlebug design; pen: micron; word coasters: imagination project.

inspired!

i love, LOVE this article from Real Simple Travel by Adam Sachs. it covers everything i cherish--romance, travel, photography. i do scrapbooking and photography not just because of my love of art and preserving memories. i do it because i feel that there is a STORY behind this photo and that. if you have a moment, pls read this article. and sigh....

classes (1 of 2)

I took this class by Veronica L. at Scrapbook U (Fremont, CA). Actually, I couldn't make it and used Jo's finished travel album as a guide. I have a lot of left-over pics from my Long Beach trip, and I thought, what a cute way to showcase Queen Mary and the fishies.

For my friend, Tina's recent engagement:

Mars' book

One of my other bff is following her dream and moving to Hawaii. I made this book as a going away present for her. It's derived from one of the classes from Scrapbook U, taught by Veronica. I used a 6x6 Bo-Bunny Naked Album and the paper I used is from Basic Grey.
