Cubs & Whales.

I was gonna make this into a card but then I remembered about this picture. Back when I was 8 or 9 (and still living in the Philippines), I was a Cub Scout. Thought this Anya was perfect for a scrapbooking l.o.!!!

Supplies:
CS- Bazzill
PP- Scenic route (white), Cratepaper (turquoise and green strips), Scrap In Style TV (striped), My Little Shoebox (tree cut-outs), Hambly.
Brad- Basic Grey
Sticker- American Crafts
Punch- EK Success
Paper clip- K&Company
Rub-ons- Daisy D's
Markers- Copics
Stamp- Cute Troop Anya

Last week, I went shopping at a bookstore and found this awesome, oversized 12" x 16" picture book. You can tear away the pages and hang 'em as art. Was supposed to buy books for my lil babe but I couldn't resist...

...especially when I saw the whale print :). I just HEART whales. But I am trying to ignore that octopus one swallowed...ha ha!!

Have a great Wednesday!! My new favorite day of the week!! Here's one of the reasons why:

Nurses are heroes!

Three weeks from today, my maternity leave ends and I would be working my 36-hour/week job :(. Being an RN is a wonderful and fulfilling job, but I will miss my baby. A friend said it would probably be one of the hardest things I'd have to do. And as much as I miss my colleagues and patients and career, there's a part of me that wishes I could be a SAHM. I know that after a few days though, I will be back on the grind and liking it, and even appreciating my precious time with Mattie more. I just wish I'd still be able to keep up with my hobbies once the inevitable happens.

So that's me on the card :). The DSP's are from Daisy D's and Scenic Route, and brads are from Basic Grey. I believe the sentiment cut-out is from 7 gypsies. Speaking of nurses, I would love to watch this!

Mercy-- about no-nonsense nurses! None of that bullcrap about the docs on Grey's anatomy or ER starting IV's and giving meds! People, I love those shows but they're so unrealistic! It's the nurses who stand by your side and advocate for you the most!! Don't get me wrong, I work with some of the best doctors. But I am hoping that this show will be different!

Oh, but tonight, there's also SYTYCD and GLEE!!!! Ahhhhh, I really need TiVo or DVR to be able to record all of them!

Ok, thanks for stopping by! Happy hump day!

Bunches!

Here's the card I made as a Guest Designer for the Funky Flowers Challenge at Anyone for Anya. The goal is to include flowers on your card, be it on the DSP or hand-made.

I used this pretty floral paper and flowers from Prima. I also used these crochet flowers that were once earrings. They come with dainty beads and I find them to be perfect! The scalloped cut-outs are from a Prima packaging-- it was too pretty to throw away. The flower on WS Dahlia is "stickled." I wanted it to pop out and not get over-shadowed by the other flowers in the lay-out :).

I love the colors on this card. They remind me of my wedding colors-- orange, pink, and green. I chose them because they were bright and spring-like (we were married in April) and colorful! Ahhh, so blissful!

And I have a confession to make. I AM SUCH A DORK! I've been wondering how come my posted pics were so small. I've looked all over blogger to see how I could change the setting of the pic size. Then, I realized that DURR.... it automatically becomes bigger when I CROP the picture! OMG! Ha ha! I wish I could go back and do it to all of my "small" pics to show more detail! .....ahhh, maybe I will! :)

I Like You.

Hope you all don't mind my quick posts. Am a little strapped for time due to my beloved newbie son. Oh, the joys and hardships of a first time mom :). All worth it though!

Wanted to try my hand again at Paper Piercing. And you guessed it! I'm using Dress-Up Anya again (I just love her hat and 'fit!). Used DSP from Treehouse Memories, Cosmo Cricket, & EK Success. Bazzill is the CS. Brads are from Basic Grey ...aren't they so fashionable??

Hope you likes!! Have a great weekend!

Brrr...it's gettin' cold!

the construction guys unexpectedly picked our condo's exterior to pound on & paint so I decided to take off. Grabbed Mattie & my iPhone and zoomed outta there! (But left so fast that I forgot to grab more diapers--DUH!!). So now I'm blogging on it. Don't get me wrong..I've been waiting for the C guys to pick our place to fix. Especially since they exposed some rotten wood right below the living room window. Now I feel relieved that our Home Owners' Association fees are actually being directly applied!

Played with another Miss Anya stamp. Am not able to tell you the supplies except for the basic Copics and that the ribbon's from KI memories. All of the DSP & flowers are from my stash. At the center of each flower are some pretty beads. The card's pretty simple but I'm glad I was able to sneak in a non-traditional item or two! :)

thanks for visiting!! Toot-a-loo!! Smooches!

All Grown Up

Was hesitant at first to order the "grown-up" Anya because I loved the younger-looking, not as slim Anya so much. But so far, I'm enjoying them, especially this one. I love her stylish peacoat (I have a corduroy one in green from Anthropologie!). And it was so much fun giving her argyle knee-high's :).

The supplies I used were Bazzill for the CS, Hambly and My Little Shoebox for the DSP, Fiskars for the flowers (Jenni Bowlin), and Stickles. I think that MLS paper with the clouds is perfect for her! I wrote the sentiment: "Thank you for being my silver lining."
And a bunch of my friends can't wait for this!!! Cannot wait for November 20th! We'll be sure to wear our TEAM EDWARD shirts! Which team are you on?

Effer Dare!

(my second post of the day...scroll down for the first one).

My first Effer Dare in a while. # 147 dares you to scrap your weaknesses. As you can tell, I've got lots. A few of them are as follows:

1. Gossip - Love, Elsie.
2. My baby boy - carriage.
3. Anthropologie.
4. Truffles from Peachey Perfections.
5. Accessories.
6. Hello Kitty.
7. Anya.

I could go on and on. The hubby was pretty happy I did this. Got some of my 'random' cute stuff around the house one one page :).

I'm content as well! One, because I LOVE how it turned out! Colorful, cartoon-ish, makes me *BLISSFUL*! Love how all my faves make a cool page! It's so awesome how the dares get you to think outside the box! And two, I'm hoping it'll REV up my scrapping mojo!

I have less than a month of maternity leave, and I tear up just thinking about it. I do miss my work and especially, my friends. I miss my patients and the rest of the medical team. But I have NOT scrapped one single photo of my 3-mo-old babe :(. So, I told myself that along with the card-making and stamping, I'd scrap as well! So far, I'm just waiting for the pics that I ordered! Hope to share some lay-outs soon!!

Hugs and smooches!

short & sweet

Above is my entry for Farm Fresh Friday 7 at TGF. Used mostly my scraps so I do not have a list of supplies for you. Wanted something different (of course!) so I used these glitter 'chips' as the "scalloped" edge of the card. I do know the brads are from American Crafts.

Oh, and I wanted to share some pics from this weekend! It was my son's Christening! Wanted to do a nautical theme.
The first pic was of the favors...truffles in the boat! So yummy!

The next two are of his Christening outfit. Super simple but super cute!

For this last picture, he's wearing a baby Barong Tagalog.

And we wanted to officially congratulate one of his God-mothers, Jo, for making this Design Team! Yay!!!

Sparkle & Shine....at AFA

Yay! I get to be Guest Designer for two weeks at Anyone for Anya! Am so very excited! It's my first time designing and it is such an honor! Thanks so much for the opportunity, Dawny! This week's challenge is to make a card using pink + white + one other color - I picked purple. I seem to be using purple a lot nowadays... but previously, I always had a hard time. My cards must be mimicking what's trendy this fall season :).

For the card, I used your not-so-typical supplies. Went to one of my paper-crafting idols, Traci Bautista for this one.

The outer pink/purplish 'paper' is actually a dyed paper towel that I bought as part of Traci's previous "kol laj" art kits. You can see the edge of it on the third picture -- still crinkly!

The middle 'paper' was created from one of her many art workshops/ classes that I took at Scrapbook U about five years ago (see, sometimes it pays to be a pack rat! :)). It resulted from making a collage out of different textured papers, glitter, paint, crinkly glitter ribbons, paint flakes, modeling paste, and colorful powder. Traci is SUCH a genius!!

I also used Bazzill for the cardstock, Doodlebug Design Inc for the brads, and misc is a vintage-looking button! And I love this Showtime Anya! She is such a star! And she is colored by copic markers, of course!

Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by! Would love to hear from you! Tootaloo!!

seven years!

This card is for Anyone for Anya?'s current challenge of Buttons, Bows, and Brads. The big fish's 'bubbles' are the buttons. The bow is at the bottom on the 'sand.' And the brads are in Mermaid Anya's hair (gray).

It's taken me seven years to finish this card. SEVEN. I started it with the idea of the big fish being the main character. But I was never satisfied. I found the unfinished card a few days ago and thought that Mermaid Anya would be the perfect center of attention! And it's become one of my fave cards.

Let me list why (I love making lists :)):

1. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney Princess. And I didn't start out trying to make her look like Ariel but I chose to color her hair red to make her stand out amongst the colorful scenery.

2. The 'under the sea' scenery just makes me smile. My favorite animal is the humpback whale. And my son's second name Kai means 'ocean' in Hawaiian.

3. The materials I used for this card aren't your typical supplies. I used beads (green fish), a necklace charm (big fish), thread (left seaweed), paper ribbons (right seaweed), real shells, packaging yarn.

Happy Hump Day! Can't wait for tonight's SYTYCD and Glee!

Polka Dots

Am blogging from my iPhone as I don't have access to a computer right now. Since I have a newborn and am pressed for time, I blog in "increments.". I'd stamp several images, color with copics, make a card, take a picture, upload, and then blog during a long stretch of time-- sometimes a few hours, but usually a whole day. I've sacrificed sleep before to create a card, but boy did I pay for it the next day!! Never again!

Anyway, I've found another way to use up scraps! Most of my cards are 6x6, but I've learned that it's also ok and quite fun to make smaller, narrower cards. That's what I did here and the card from yesterday's post. I also did it for the "Just Dance" post on 8/26 (a bad thing about blogging on the phone is I'm not able to link anything.

The card above is too cute! Love that polka dot paper! I believe it's from Prima. The polka dot ribbon is darling too! Thought this BABY stamp set from The Greeting Farm is adorable, even if you don't have a 3-mo-old :).

Speaking of which, Mattie is growing up so fast! His Baptism/ party is coming soon and I can't wait! Will surely put up pics here!!

Good-night! We're having a sleep-over with my parents-in-law and bro/sis-in-law and nephew! Soooo much fun!! XO!

Radical, dude!!!

I feel like I have to make a card with every TGF stamp I have before using the same one twice. I'm funny that way. So I crafted one with this skateboarding Ian (last single) before moving on to my new sets.

Hmm, speaking of sets, what do you guys do about your sets? I, for one, hate trimming stamps. I feel like it's such a waste of rubber & then after they look so messy and broken up. I voted to get trimmed stamps at TGF but I got outvoted. Maybe it's more expensive that way? I also have another secret: I stamp without the use of an acrylic block!! Shhh! I have one but am too lazy to use it. Besides, my palm works just as well :).

Found lots of inspiration:

Multi-cultural "eggs" ---adorable!

Watched this show last night. These ladies are hilarious and I love what they have to say (and their outfits!).

And I just love, LOVE Amy's creations and cards. Go over to her blog for a chance to win some candy. Yummy!!! Hope I win!

Have a great Saturday everyone! Hugs!

Mz Sassy & Girly

I have a niece who's turning three this month...
She is girly and sassy and fun!
Wanted her card to match her personality so I chose Superstar Anya.
Used Basic Grey as the main card. PP are Rouge de Garance, American Crafts, Kodomo Inc. Stickers are from Tinkering Ink and EK Success.
I liked how the card turned out funky and trendy.
Kinda like the dress I got for her :) :) :).....

Have a wonderful day, weekend, and labor day!! TGIF, peeps!

College-bound

My little (well, not so little anymore) cousin will soon be starting college. I was 13 when she was born and I used to change her diapers. I can't believe she is practically an adult!

I chose Wild Sprouts Annika for the card because of obvious reasons -- she's carrying books, ready for school. I found an old but cute bag sticker from Sandy Lion and thought the PP from Prima was perfect! The brads are Basic Grey and the CS is Bazzill. You can't tell from the pics but I adhered tiny ribbons on her hair.

I hear the lil one calling! Thanks for stopping by! Would love to hear from you!

In the meantime, am so excited about going to this beauty!

Toot-a-loo!

Icons

I absolutely am IN LOVE with this Pretty Hat Anya. She is old school glam with a trendy twist. And although she also looks like a child playing dress up, she demonstrates sophistication at the same time!

I also wanted to try out paper piercing on her. Being new to the stamping world, I get so many good ideas from the inspiring blogs I follow. Anyway, I love how her hat turned out! & I also wanted to do her dress but had limited time (btw, the babe is three months today :)).

I picked 7 gypsies PP..I just adore this pattern of vintage-y, French-like, damask inspired paper & ribbon. Truly, to me it created an amazing backdrop to this fashionista! Brads are from Basic Grey. And the other PP is from Traci Bautista-- for those of you who don't know Traci's line: it's simply wonderful. They're based on painted paper, each one is slightly different. She's a genius!

Anyway, have a great day! Sorry for the short posts...someone's going through a growth spurt and requiring more frequent feeds and shorter naps! I'm lucky to be able to make cards.

Hugs!
