Make It Monday over at C.C.D.!

Hi all!!

It's Corinne, and it's my first ever MIM over at the C.C. Designs blog.

I'll be showing you how to use water colors with your stamps! I am usually a Copics Lover, but I have been intrigued by different mediums lately, especially watercolors.

To start off with, I grabbed:

1. some watercolor paper (I used a different brand here, but C.C.Designs sells one at the store).

2. ink for the stamp (Memento Ink in rich cocoa).

4. For the watercolors, I used Le Plumme II watercolor pens and water color from the Art District -- it's what I already have at home. Christine has a great selection over here.

5. Water, small brushes, watercolor pan.

I first laid ink from the markers or tubes on the watercolor pan.

I, then, start coloring using my brush and taking into account where the light source is.

I take the marker and use it right on the watercolor paper where the shadows of her face would be.    And then I blend well with my brush.

I have yet to master coloring hair, but you can show dimensions here by using different colors or making it lighter by using more water.
I did the same technique with the background / sea.  By using different colors or shades, you show depth and aspects.

I kept it pretty simple and  just added bubbles and hand-wrote the sentiment.

Bright Colors!

IMG_0768

Hello everyone!

It's time for another Challenge at Milk Coffee today! This time, it's all about bright colors! I don't know about you but I am truly loving all the pastel colors of Spring time, but it's always nice to have a bit of a tiny change to shake things up :).

And speaking of something different, I tried new techniques for my project. First, to make Charlotte at Paper Airplane stand out, I colored her up as brightly as I could (hence the hair). I, then, added the watercolored background - I had painted this background (Art Impressions Water Color series) using Marvy markers. I need a lot of practice, but I really adore the effect!

Second, I tore the edges off the papers to sort of do a tattered, vintage effect. Charlotte reminds me of The Littles -- I think I may have mentioned that before. I loved watching those shows about the tiny little humans with tails!

I hope that I haven't offended anyone with the colors I chose for her. It says "Air Force," but I think the stamp is done in good fun. Please also see the main MC blog to view all the rest of the Design Team's work! We sure do wish you could join us! The challenge runs for two weeks!!

See you soon!!

Milk Coffee's the Little Mermaid.

Hi all! Long time, no blogging! So sorry about that! The mojo has been low and I was slowly getting back to reality from our vacation.

I do have some wonderful news! And that is I made it into the Milk Coffee Design Team!! Wooo hoooo!! Milk Coffee is based in Indonesia and their digital stamps are some of the cutest I've seen! And I love how versatile their line of stamps are... from Manga-style to chic to funny!

I am on the Challenge Team, and the challenge that starts today is Fairy Tales. I made a card out of the freebie, the Cute Mermaid, and you can find her in this post.

What I love about Milk Coffee is that they're constantly giving away free digi images! Isn't she pretty? I colored her to look like Ariel, the Little Mermaid. She's my favorite out of the Disney princesses! :)

When I was about 8, I remember my Dad coming back from a trip to Japan or Korea. He had brought home a cartoon movie for us called The Little Mermaid. It was the same story but had a tragic ending. I think this was when I started becoming a hopeless romantic. I loved that cartoon and still remember it!

Remember that the Milk Coffee Challenge runs for two weeks! You can use any stamped or digi image you want but the creation has to be new. And you have to link it back to the Milk Coffee blog. Also, you can't enter more than three times. For a full set of rules and to see the other DT's creations, please go to today's blog post over at the main blog!

My card is a bit different than what I usually make. It's got a lot of mixed media elements to it. The background "ocean" paper is from the Shanna Noel class I took a while back. We learned to paint with water colors, and I actually made it. I was super proud that Shanna herself said it was quite good. **swooooon**.

And the folded up border is a paper towel I painted too, from Traci Bautista's class years ago. The washis and anchor are from Glitz Design.
