Queen Leslie.

IMG_6877-1

Hello, hello, hello!

I've got a Karber digi card for ya today!

Isn't Leslie super cute? I've dressed....err, colored her up today for Halloween as the Queen of Hearts aka the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. I wanted to do one more Halloween card before the holiday. And I thought she'd be cute as one.

I am quite partial to the Red Queen if you remember :) (refresh your memory with this post).

Enjoy your Monday!!

Bows.

IMG_6875-1

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Sunday to you! Today, I am writing to you from the airport. Am about to board my flight to Seattle, where I'll be attending a conference for work. I'm truly excited as I've never been! It's supposed to rain the whole time I'm there except for the day I leave, but that's ok. I hope to have some relaxation time in between classes and catch up on your blogs. Looking forward to seeing lots of greenery and spending time with friends.

Today's card features Christmas Card Challenges # 47: Bows. I've had this Some Odd Girl cutie colored for a while now and I'm glad I saved her. She's perfect for this challenge because of her socks and her headband :). I also used the sparkly and shiny tree from a Jolee's Boutique sticker pack. It's got lots of bows for ornaments.

Well, I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far. Please visit the blog for more Holiday inspiration. CCC is also having a DT call right now - I highly suggest this team. Not to make you jealous or anything, but I have at least 47 Christmas cards ready to be personalized :).

Ice Cream and Pickles.

IMG_6724-1

Hello peeps!

Even though my sis' baby shower theme was Harry Potter, I just could not alter Hermoine (from yesterday's post) to look pregnant. One, because a book was covering her tummy. And two, I didn't want to change the story! :). Cuz that would be kinda weird. LOL.

So I colored up Ice Cream and Pickles from Saturated Canary. I just love her! Her hair didn't turn out as I expected but it was so much fun coloring nonetheless.

It captured the "glow" of pregnancy beautifully - that is, minus the wide nose, double chin, and extra back fat you gain. LMAO!!! Haha!

Hermoine!

IMG_6728

It's another week! Hello Monday!

And for me, that means another Karber Digi DT post! My sister had a Harry Potter themed baby shower this past weekend so I was in the mood to color up Hermoine! I had a great time coloring her hair, but had a hard time with her face because I need new nibs for a couple of my Copics. The shower was a lot of fun....challenging, but fun! I'll post more on that later.

I also chose Hermoine because of the Halloween season. Anyone dressing up? Because my job consists of caring for children, I always try to dress up. The other nurses and I come up with a theme. I'm pretty excited about it...it'll be cute and funny!

Hope you visit the Karber blog and see the other DT's cards!

Byeeee!

SOG Guest DT app

IMG_6704-1

Hi all!!

Surprise! An extra post from me this week!! :).

I know, I know....try to hold back your excitement, haha!! I wanted to show you my latest Some Odd Girl creation. I'm applying for their Guest DT spot for November and December. Wish me luck please!

I really am loving the mixture of patterns in the above card. I just think they match Hey Kaylee's playful personality! And aren't Cathy's felt flowers just gorgeous?

We're to include two other SOG projects so here are my other cards. They're not new but I think they depict my cute-sy and whimsical style.

Grow.

IMG_6623-1

Hi peeps!!

I made this card for my niece a while back and forgot to post it. It was for her first birthday, and I wanted to use an adorable image from The Greeting Farm. I decided to alter the stamped image and use Nahla's head with Glimmer Bean's body.

Her birthday was near Labor Day so I wanted the card summer-like. I also wanted it to be super girly and sparkly so I used lots of Dear Lizzy items.

See you soon!

Baby Moon.

IMG_6699-1

Good morning, everyone!

There's a bit of a baby boom on my neck of the woods so I was super excited to use Baby Moon for my Karber DT card this week.

Isn't this card super cute? I wanted to make the moon realistic so I tried to add some texture :).

Keep Calm and Stamp On.

IMG_6627-1

Happy World Card Making Day, folks!! Hope you get crafty this weekend! I know I am! :)

It's been kind of disheartening that I've had to defend my making cards lately to others. I envy those of you who have full support from your friends and family...

Lots of people ask why I stamp/ make cards/ scrapbook... I'm sure everybody has their escape. I'm lucky enough to be able to afford many hobbies. For me, coloring stamped images are relaxing. And to see them come to life with just the ink and brush strokes from Copic markers are remarkable! I love patterned papers and textures and adding dimension and design with them just leave me with a wonderful feeling. And, of course, giving my cards to a special person just warms my heart.

Homemade gifts aren't always cheap and kitschy. I, for one, have a lot of stamps. I finally got to print digi stamps with my own printer though (if you are a long time follower of my blog, you know I had problems and always relied on other people for this). So I've been buying lots of digi stamps instead (cheaper).

And not everybody is a supporter of my hobby, and I can understand that. It takes time and money and space. But to each, her or his own. I craft when my kids are napping or playing. I still play with them and cuddle with them and read to them and spoil them more than I should. I think crafting makes me a better mom because it allows me some time for myself. As for money, well, I've stopped buying designer purses or clothes. It's been a while since I've stepped inside a mall or had my hair done. Instead I buy my crafting supplies. I work full time and have a great, rewarding career. It is very stressful, having someone's life in your hands. After 12 years of nursing, I've learned to leave it at work when I get home. But it's not always easy.

Bottom line, I think I'm getting quite good at my coloring. I'm very proud of that. Last week, I got my Intermediate Copics Certification. I love that I'm well rounded enough to want to pursue something other than my career or being a mom. It is definitely not easy to balance everything. But I am grateful for my hubby who's watched the kids while I holed myself up in a room for a couple of weekends and studied for my promotion and my certification. And to my mom, who's watched the kids while I'm at work. Any hoo, I wouldn't change it for anything. And thank you for all of your comments and visits. And to my friends who cherish my cards in their treasured collections, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

XOXO,

Pixie Fairy.

IMG_6668-1

Can I just tell you that in my box of cards, I have a special section where I keep my favorite ones? The ones I keep for myself, the ones I may put up as decor in my craft room in the future? This is one of those cards. I made it for a work colleague, but I ended up making her a different one. The bright colors make me happy!

I love this pixie stamp from Make It Crafty - Jojo Petal Sprite. I'm not sure if he or she was meant to be a girl, but she is super cute. I happen to also love the knee caps I created with my Copics :).

I followed the Deconstructed Sketch # 69. I also used the yarn and tag from CatShy Craft's packaging. And that felt flower is from her shop as well.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Karber Hawaii.

IMG_6677-1

Good Monday morning,' folks!

I'm here for my Karber DT post, and this week, I am in a l'il tropical mood! One of my dear friends, M, celebrated her birthday. She just came back from a trip to Hawaii, and she is currently going through paradise withdrawals! LOL!

So I thought the Hawaii Clear Stamp set was perfect! It used to be sold at Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps but she no longer lists them. If you are interested, I can ask Berenice (owner of Karber) where they are still stocked.

This clear set is really very cute. I love Millie is so cute and pretty, and she comes with two sentiments and four other stamps - the pineapple, butterfly, sun, and flower (the sun and flower are not included here).

My plans changed this weekend, and I wasn't able to take a picture of my card until Sunday night. The sun had gone down so I photographed them two different ways -- one was with flash and one without. They are both included here. (With flash is above).

Have a great week!
