Monochromatic mood.

IMG_6156-1

It's monochromatic time over at Christmas Card Challenges (Week 31)!

This past week, I was in Portland, and it was rainy over there. I got to make this card and it sorta matched the weather. Although I was grateful it was cooler as I did a lot of walking!

The images are from Gorjuss and I got them at ATS.com. Pls head on over to the blog for more inspiration! Remember that the challenge is not mandatory -- all you need is a new Holiday or Winter-themed card! And it's July 1st, so Christmas is here in less than half a year...better get started on your cards! :)

CCC's Sketch for Week 11.

** click here for a chance to win the Miss Anya Garland set from my TGF GDT post.***

Hi everyone,

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge, where we make Christmas, Holiday, Winter-themed cards all year long! For Week 11, we have a sketch for you:

IMG_4701

You have all week to play along, and remember that the sketch is an optional challenge. All you gotta do is make a new Christmas card - see the CCC blog for the rules and DT inspiration!

For my card, I used lovely Gorjuss girl & Mr. Polar Bear. I bought them at ATS, but they are currently sold out. Used Bo Bunny for the die-cut circle and strip. The trees DP is from My Mind's Eye. The second DP is from Melissa Frances.

Talk to ya folks later!

My First Christmas Card Challenge DT post.

**** Please go HERE for my Craft Room ReDo Blog Candy. ****

Happy Sunday!

And welcome to my first ever Christmas Card Challenge post! CCC Week # 1 is to make a one-layer card.

Now, a clean and simple (CAS) card is not my usual style. In fact, I had to ask what was meant by a one-layer card, LOL (I know! Total loser!!!).

Once I found out, however, it wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be for someone who loves to layer and embellish like me. In fact, I've been dying to make this kind of card. Clean, white, minimal embellishments.

Here's my take:

I used one of the Gorguss girls, Little Heart, which I bought from ATS. I just love how Gorguss girls are so versatile and classic! I also used SOG's Deck the Halls Tobie for the stockings, sentiment, and candy cane stamps. The baker's twine is from Martha Stewart.

Remember that the only real RULE of the CCC blog is to make a new Christmas, Holiday, Hanukah, or Winter card. The challenges are totally optional. But no backlinking please! See the blog for more details and to link up your projects! Can't wait to see what you create, folks!

Fairy Godmother

Photobucket

Good Thursday morning, everyone!

Can I just say that these next week and a half will probably be lots of fun but I cannot wait till it's over?

The babe/ tot turned one and the party is coming up!

One of my bffs is having her bachelorette this weekend! There'll be dancing & some alcohol involved and I'm a bit nervous because it's been a while since I've partied.

We are making an offer to this house that looks promising! *crosses fingers and prays*

And I'm tapering off breast milk for the l'il one. (Sorry if this last one is TMI).

WHEW! I'm tired now just talking about it!

Anyway, the biggest stress/ fun will of course be my baby's vintage circus party. My lil sis, Kristine, has been my right hand in planning this thing. She has always been so creative and talented with party planning. I really couldn't have done it without her!

So of course, she is my son's God-mother. She has been there for him since he was the size of a pea, coming to me on a couple of my appointments while the G was working. She has baby-sat, & even learned how to change a poopy diaper. She always lights up when she sees Mattie. It's nice to see how loved my child is.

Photobucket

I adore this picture of K & M together. I decided to focus on sissy instead of the litle tot. I used mostly pink, green, orange -- I love this color combo the most! I also used them for my wedding. (BTW, my lil sis also helped me with that one!).

Photobucket

Used Sugar Nellie stamp, Etsy purchases (P.S. It's in the Details - tree & butterflies), Taylored Expressions (striped and green PP), October Afternoon letter stickers, embellies from blog candy won at Stephanie's blog (moon & cricket beads, sparkly ribbon, felt flower).

(Blogger is having issues with rotation so pardon the last pic!).

Anyway, everyone say hello to Kristine! She's the only one out of my fam who reads my blog! Love you!

Lifesaver

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Pardon the picture..the sun was hiding when I took it. Here's another card I made during our mini vacation. Super quick and simple.

The image is from the lovely Sunghee again (thank you)! The sentiment is hand-written and I used a bunch of my scraps!

Sorry to run! I'm working today!

Cute as a Button

Yay for Thursdays! I can't wait to watch their baby coming into the world today. I've been rooting for Jim and Pam since the beginning! I also want to watch ABDC. Can't wait to see what the crews come up with dancing to Lady Gaga!!

But I may only see a part of the shows as we still have to pick up our car rental. I'm also quite nervous about packing for our mini trip. *sigh* Last time for Disneyland, I was so scared of over-packing that I actually underpacked.

This time, we are heading towards snow. Anybody out there have tips on what to pack for a 9-month-old baby? We're not used to snow where we live and so far, I've packed a snowsuit, a couple of hats (that cover the ears), gloves, a pack & play, and a saucer (so that he has something to sit on when we are outside). Am still debating whether or not to bring my ergo... how the heck will my 'bundle of clothes' fit in there after layers and layers and then a snowsuit?!

Anyway, thought I 'd take a break from packing and tell you about my card today. The lovely Sunghee has graciously sent me this Gorguss image.

I've mixed some items I had from a class at Suzy's old store (the sentiment, button, string and beads) with patterned paper from Fiskars (heidi grace designs circa 2007!). The blue flowered one and the beads are my favorite parts of the card. That paper had sparkles -- you can see it better at the pic below. And I just LOVE adding a bit of homemade bead-y bling to the card! I threaded the beads into a thin wire & voila!

Ooops! Pardon the bit of uncolored image that is showing. I knew I should've cut that out!

See you next week!

Strength from the Soul

I made this card for a very good friend who recently got her heart broken and had been depressed. Boo on boys that are stupid and selfish! That guy really needs a good butt-whopping!!! But I digress...

When K was telling me the story, she spoke of how she couldn't eat for a few days and that her heart hurt :(. She did not know if she could trust again. I could totally relate. I mean, who hasn't had their heart broken in one form or another. When it hurts all the way to your core? And how you manage to find deep in your soul the strength to get over it?

So I made her this card. I've had that fabric with the word "Soul" for a while now (from kol laj). And I used the Cosmo Cricket PP with dandelions. I love blowing dandelions and making wishes. That is what I hope for my friend -- that she finds the strength to move on and have lovely days full of wishes, hopes, and dreams.

This gorguss stamped image was given to me by Jo. I used Recollections pearls and a Martha Stewart punch for those XOXO's.

Happy Tuesday, everybody~

Twinkle

Happy Friday, y'all! Can't believe that Christmas is just fourteen days away!!! But I am proud to say I have bought almost all of my presents. The only ones left are my hubby's and baby's. I did, however, purchase this to symbolize my DS' first holiday.

Today's card is truly made out of scraps. I didn't even have to cut any of the DSP except the main green one. They are from My Mind's Eye. The stamped-on fabrics are from kol laj. Oh how I wish I could use the sewing machine. I think those fabric would POP out more if stitched! The pearls are from Reflections. Sorry if the photo is poor-- I had to take it at night time again. Thanks, Jo, for this Gorguss image! :)

To end, here's my favorite pic from our department's Holiday party. You might notice from the flower that I changed my mind about the original outfit. Wanted to be more comfortable. And Mattie's wearing a Santa Claus 'fit! :)

Spectacular Glee

A quick post, everyone! A card made from Tinkering Ink (red & green) PP, Scenic Route Rd stickers, and Marcella K pearls.

Started out coloring this Gorguss girl image I got from my BFF. She was supposed to be for a Christmas card, but I found these stickers & made this instead. :)

The bright colors, the red and yellow kind of match this:

A MUST buy for GLEE lovers! Such great songs. I especially loved the 'Diva off' from last night's episode! Have a great Thursday, everyone!!

Up, Up, and Away!!

Another great stamped image from my bff, Jo (thanks, hon!). This gorguss girl is Sugar Nellie's Up Up & Away.

This card is for ICSketch # 40. I thought it to be a very versatile sketch. My interpretation of it is a bit 'topsy turvy.'

Made my own nestability to mimick the clouds on the My Little Shoebox patterned paper. I also drew the stitching on the border to copy the one on the Neverland sticker from Love, Elsie. The rainbow sticker is from American Crafts. The black paper with swirls is from 7 gypsies. Wanted to use the kol laj art flakes again - this time in blue/turquoise. I think I went a bit crazy :)...he he! The ribbon charms are from Making memories, though I covered them with buttons because they are squares. Gotta go with the rounded theme afterall! The sentiment is hand-written.

Can you tell I'm a bit of a dreamer? :)

Here's a close-up of the art flakes I'm enjoying so much:

Gorguss Little Star

Made this card for the All That Scraps' Tall Card Challenge. I'm a bit late though :(. Last night, I saw that today was the last day to post and now I can't find the link on their blog. Was confused when they said Tuesday, should've posted the picture I took last night(although it wasn't that great in the lamp light). Had fun anyway!

This design is a bit linear for me. If you know my style, it's usually pretty random and lots of layering. I'm very happy with it though. Sometimes, I like to play with different lay-outs and techniques hoping it'll make me more well rounded. So today is "simple," another day will be more artsy. And I wanted to use different colors for a Holiday card.. the purple and yellow turned out cool!

Used the Gorguss Sugar Nellie's Little Star I got from Jo. My bff stamped me her fave images. How lucky am I? :)

This gorguss is so darling! The CS is from Bazzill. The PP is American Crafts. The flower is from Prima. The fabric and painted paper are from Traci Bautista. I wanted to embellish more so I added some kol laj art flakes from her line as well. I think they are my new favorite thing!! Here's a close-up pic of them.

Gotta run! It's my hubby's birthday! And so excited for tonight's SYTYCD!! Did you all see the special top 20 episode? I'm already picking favorites!
