Taking me back to my clubbing days! :)

IMG_1216

Hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday so far!! It is a weekend off for moi, and I'm so excited to be spending it with some family and friends. I even got some crafting time in, yay!!

Today's card features Time for Tea Design's Festival Girl. She is fun and carefree, and I wanted the card to reflect that!

Now, although I know what music festivals are all about, I haven't actually been to one. I have, however, gone to many concerts and clubs. I chose some awesome fantasy-themed Bam-Pop papers to accompany her. She's at a Katie Perry concert, or even a rave at the Mission side of San Francisco :).

There's lots of merriment and dancing, some drinking, and maybe a couple of fun stuffed animals being thrown around by the crowd, LOL! Tee-hee! Oh, to be young again!!

Have an awesome weekend! Toodles,

Stripes!

IMG_1135

Hi all!!

It's time for another Milk Coffee Challenge. This one's super easy! (at least for me anyway!). Add some stripes!

This darling is Charlotte Ballet, and she can be found at the Milk Coffee store.

The two patterned papers are actually pirate/ Halloween-themed, but I thought they were perfect for this image and challenge! Please visit the blog for more inspiration. You've got two weeks to play!!

I am so pleased at the amount of people who play along with Milk Coffee. As part of the DT, I'm responsible in commenting for some of the participants.. people, there were almost 200 people who joined in!! :) Thanks so much!!

Girly at Milk Coffee.

IMG_0374

Good evening, everyone! Or if you are where Milk Coffee is based, good morning!! This week's challenge is Girly! I think this would be easy with Milk Coffee stamps - they are super cutesy. Even if you're not into that, they also have these super gorgeous and classic beauties.

I used A Flamenco Dancer, and she happens to be one of my most favorite MC stamped images! I think she is so beautiful and her dress is just PERFECT!!

Man, what I would give to have a dress and moves like those! I love images that tell a story, don't you? I can just imagine her being in the center of the dance floor, making all look at her!

I tried to make the fabric of her dress more satin/ silk - like and shimmery, but I didn't quite get there. I remember coloring her up last October, in a hotel in San Diego on vacation. It took a while but it was worth it! I paired her up with Print Shop papers by Shanna Noel (I just love her carefree and artistic style!). The script sentiment is from Heidi Swapp (I think). I adore the gold flower by Maggie Holmes' Flea Market line.

And for the girly theme, I figured you can't get any girlier than this hottt, Latin Dance performer in the beautiful ruffly dress! Add on a doily in one corner, a ruffle trim at the bottom, and a handwritten sentiment and voila!

Please visit the MC blog for more challenge details and DT inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hula Girl.

IMG_9046

Good Saturday morning, peeps!!

I've got such a cutie to show you today. Time for Tea Designs' Hula Girl is so pretty, and I love her swaying hips and skirt!

I thought it would be fitting to put her in a little scene. You can see that the coconut mai tai drink made it to another tropical card, LOL! My card is fairly simple but I wanted her to stand out. It was definitely challenging to color up the grass skirt to look the way I wanted to but I am always up for it!

I've always wanted to learn the Hula, so I signed up for a class for a few months. I also own a Hula/ Tahitian work-out DVD that I love! The dancer/ instructor always performed in front of the ocean or another beautiful Hawaiian scenery. I guess this card was an ode to that?

But doesn't it seem like she's eyeing that cocktail? BUWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

If you haven't yet checked out Jo's releases this month, you will be blown away! So many Summer beauties to choose from!

See you soon!!

Just Dance.

i used to take hula. it had been a very long dream of mine, and i finally got to make it come true for a few measly, but glorious months in my late 20s.

and so for my wedding, i had planned to surprise my husband by performing the wedding dance. alas, my plans did not go through.

one, because i was too self-conscious to perform because i did not reach my "goal weight." stupid, i know.

two, i lost the instructional video of all of the steps and lost contact with my hula teacher.

three, i was so in love with my wedding dress that i did not think to even plan getting in and out of it for the dance.

anyway, i came across my friend john's pictures of a recent wedding he went to. and saw this.

john's picture shows the bride performing the wedding dance in front of her groom.

i immediately felt a pang of regret. and suddenly felt awe of the grace and love this hula symbolized. and how i LOVE that dress!

am really kicking myself now. maybe for our 10th anniversary, we'll have a BIG celebration and i can do it then. but then i'll be in my forties *sigh*.....(although someone said 40's are the new 30's, eh?)....

and so, i made this card for the BEST hula dancer i know. yes, she's not even 7 (well, on her birthday, she will be).

however, she did choose ballet over hula (she recently quit hula because her dance schedule was getting too busy). but for being 6, I. had all the potential and the beginning of a wonderful hula/tahitian dancer. hula or ballet, this little girl is such a talented dancer!

i chose the ballerina anya for this card. used bazzill for the cs, rouge de garance for the pp, hambly stickers, and doodlebug design inc for the brads.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fairy Tales and Faves

I thought this was so cool on Amy's blog. You plug in your name and find out your fairy name AND a little description!! Here's mine-

Corinne Mercado:
Your fairy is called Thorn Rainbowfly.
She is a fortune bringer.
She lives in brambles and blackberry bushes.
She is only seen at midday under a quiet, cloudless sky.
She wears purple and green like berries and leaves. She has multicoloured wings like a butterfly.

I was making this card & decided to fashion the cutie bit after my fairy. I thought she'd look wonderful as a redhead :). The dandelion rub-on was kind of messed up on the right, but it looks like someone is blowing the little stems away, carrying their wishes. When I make cards or scrap, it never looks perfect anyway but I prefer it that way. I think imperfection gives my creations character. Anyway, I can't wait to make a birthday card for my friend, Jules, who just LOVES fairies (she even has a tattoo of one!).

Supplies:
CS- Bazzill
PP- Reminisce, unknown
Rub-On- Me & My Big Ideas
Flowers- Maya Road
Sticker- Hambly
Brads- Basic Grey
Stamp- Anya, The Greeting Farm
Ink- Memento
Markers- Copic

So, one of my ultimate favorite blogs is Elsie's. She features pictures of what inspires her, and I think I'll be doing the same :). See below for two of my faves.

1) Today, on facebook, Kristina Contes (talk about INSPIRATION!) said she wanted to marry the current Anthropologie catalogue!! Ha ha! Thought that was cute and funny... then I received mine in the mail. And I, too, SWOONED!! The catalogue featured real people as models. So wonderful. And THIS is so sah-weet!

2) It's bittersweet that one of my favorite TV shows is ending its latest season. My time has totally been turned upside down with my baby. But don't get me wrong, it is worth it! still.. if there is one show on TV that I somehow never missed (of course, many thanks to my hubby), it's So You Think You Can Dance. I don't really have a favorite this season, but I must admit that I like all but Evan (sorry). Go Kayla, Brandon, and Jeanine! I wonder who will win...

Thanks for visiting, peeps!
