Milk Coffee Challenge - A Special Lady.

IMG_0785

Good evening to ya!

Come join us into welcoming another Milk Coffee Challenge - for the next two weeks, make a card or project for a special lady or your mother. I've got a couple already done for Mother's Day, so I thought I'd create one for my cousin who is graduating from college.

I chose Michelle Takes A Walk, because I wanted to use that sentiment "Oh, the Places You Will Go," as in the Dr. Seuss book. By the way, I just handwrote that sentiment. :)

Hope you get to play! See the blog for more inspiration and deets!

Sexy and Real.

IMG_6616-1

Good mornin'!

So my card's a bit risque today. I hope it doesn't offend anybody. But this sultry Grey Tie from Saturated Canary pays homage to the books "Fifty Shades of Grey." You may have heard of it? It's not going to win prizes but it's very sexy and addicting.

Anyway, I applaud Krista for creating her, a real woman! :)

I'm entering this card for Saturated Canary's Challenge 25 - polka dots. I added some strawberries - picture them as chocolate covered :).

Anyway, I heard someone say stamping is only for conservative, older ladies .... really now? ;)

P.S. My sentiment is from Kelly Purkey...her stamps are perfect!!!

Celebrating Uniqueness & Graduations

IMG_0780

Because I am going to be on Maternity Leave soon, I really have to watch my expenses. That especially includes new stamps and supplies for my crafts. So I had told myself to only buy sparingly.

Now some of you know that I sometimes strive to be different. Often, I do not always like to go along with the crowd. And so I thought Some Odd Girl stamps are truly unique! From their big eyes to their small torsos and bigger-than-life calves! (lemme tell you, big calves have always been an insecurity of mine. now i feel like celebrating them).

I really ADORE and LOVE these new stamps. Couldn't help but buy most of Kristy's newly released stamps. There goes that theory about trying to save money...LOL!

For today's card, I'm playing along at the SOG's white/ kraft & color pops challenge. Make a card that is either kraft or white and use only two colors (aside from the skin and hair color of the stamp).

As you can see, I used a white card and the combination of pink and green. Looking back, a lot of my cards have been pretty graphic and linear recently so I wanted to do something a bit different. This lace butterfly paper was perfect to add dimension to the card.

Materials Used:
Stamp- SOG
Love Letter Kaylee.
Papers- Butterfly Lace Paper (American Crafts, Dear Lizzy), Green 'binder' paper (Creative Imaginations).
Embellishments- Pins/ Flags (Pink Paislee), tag (American Crafts).

In other news... (going off on a tangent!)

If you noticed, I am using one of my beloved Dear Lizzy products up there. I will not be hoarding that line anymore. Just like how I started using my Love, Elsie line when the Dear Lizzy one showed up. Because..... Amy Tangerine is coming out with her own line!!

I love her blog, her creations, and all the sneak peeks of her new products. Ummm, wasn't I just talking about saving money here?? *GULP GULP*

Anyway, back to my card. It's for my youngest cousin, who has graduated high school and will be celebrating her 18th birthday very soon. Filipinas celebrate debuts as Latinas celebrate quinceaneras. She's having a big combined party, & lots of relatives are coming from the Philippines.

As part of her presents, I am including Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go."

It's the perfect book for graduation. I got the idea from a post at the blog of the
Pioneer Woman. I think I'll be purchasing more of these books as a grad tradition.

"Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go."

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Card

IMG_9980

Good morning!

Before I discovered stamps, I used to create cards using pictures. For example, see this blog post about thanking my girlies for my bachelorette weekend.

So for Jo's daughter's birthday, I wanted to make one using her pic. Not just her pic, but elements from the actual invitation (did anyone say UPCYCLING? LOL!). Jo had the great idea of making "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as M's party theme!

Before I had Mattie, I hadn't really read the book but had bought some art papers inspired or marketed by Eric Carle. I was so bummed when I couldn't find them. I had probably thrown them away when we moved!

So I just grabbed this red polka dotted paper by October Afternoon and found this ribbon with "holes" bought from Babies 'R Us. There are a couple of apple stickers from K&Company -- I took these and the cut-outs from the invites and punched holes in them. Just like the caterpillar ate holes in all those food! :)

See you soon!

Vintage-Inspired..

IMG_9837

I was reading this book as I was making this card.

It's a great read if you love fashion, especially if you adore vintage. Vintage has been fascinating me lately, although I don't really own anything from another era. But I would always daydream that I would someday find a piece of jewelry or clothing that once belonged to my grandmother or great-grandma. And oooooh, the stories that would enter my head of what it was like during that time. So if this kind of daydreaming appeals to you, then you'd like this book.

So back to the card. She is my recent purchase from the Cheeky Cherry Collection at The Greeting Farm. The Cheekies are retro enough but I wanted the card to have a whole vintage-y feel to it.

Some of the supplies that I used came from the "On the Easel" kit from Studio Calico. The main PP really stood out to me...it's called "Macho." It's perfect for a bachelorette theme. Gotta admit that when I added the fishnet stockings, it got pretty racy :).

There are a lot of embellishments, just the way I like it (most of the time). There's washi tape that came from the kit. Some lacy tape, and real lace at the bottom of the trim to which I added glitter gel to. (You can't tell here but it glitters in the light).

Some Jolee's stickers and American Craft tags and pins were layered on and voila!

Hope you're having a fantabulous day!
