Penguins & Pups!

Hello, hello, helllooooooooooooo, Blog World!!

It's Digi Release Day at Some Odd Girl! Seriously, how cool is it that pretty much on every Tuesday, there is a new digital stamp at SOG? Awesome, I tell ya!!

And today, I've got two of them to show you! Introducing Momma & Baby Penguin:

IMG_9345

Aren't they sweet? I accidentally printed them too big than I intended, but their size kind of balanced out the busy background. My good friend, Sheena, had given me a gift a few months back - supplies to make that rosette. I love it! It resembles a snow ball! Thank you, Sheena!!

IMG_9346

This image would be perfect not only for Holidays, but also for Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.! Adorable, right?

And the second image is Holiday Pup:

IMG_9349

Lots of pattern-mixing on this one. But if you look closely, it's really a two to three-layered card :). My favorite embellishment though are the Martha Stewart star glitter confetti. Each row is pretty much a different color. Very subtle, but they really add to the card.

Now, please hop on over to the rest of the participating DT and SOG blog for more inspiration!! I don't know about you, but I truly love seeing everyone's take on the same image(s).

Making Flairs at Some Odd Girl.

Hey, how's it going?

Today, I am featured at the Some Odd Girl blog, and I wrote up the Tutorial Post on Making Flairs.  If you don't scrapbook or are not quite familiar with flairs, here is an example from Skipping 5:

IMG_9296

They make great embellishments for crafty projects, not only scrapbook lay-outs, but cards and altered items as well.  They kind of remind me of bottle caps in a way.  They are round, thick, and are very cute.

You can personalize and make your own using a flair maker.  But if you don't have hundreds of dollars to spend, you can also try these cheaper, similar alternatives.  What's good is you probably have these items in your craft room already.

You will need some round, epoxy stickers.  Or Glossy Accent glue.  Or the Epiphany button maker (I have Round 20 shown here) and its coordinating buttons.

IMG_9278

Gather up some Some Odd Girl images. I've used the clear critter stamps from Hey Kaylee and Gwen in Bloom and the swirls from Artist Mae.  I also shrunk a digital stamp - Tropical Mae, and will be using her top half.  You can leave the image uncolored, color them, stamp them on patterned paper, color the background, etc.  So many different options!

IMG_9279

The easiest ones are the stickers, of course.  Just line up and cut away!

IMG_9288

For the glossy accent, squeeze the glue on the middle and do not stop to prevent air bubbles.  Also, less is more!

IMG_9290

Here's what it looks like:

IMG_9292

I ended up going over the part I wanted for Tropical Mae below, so i let it dry (8 hours overnight), and traced a circle on the back and proceeded to cut it out.  I ended up cutting into the glue part as well.

IMG_9293

Follow the instructions on the Epiphany button maker, which includes lining up image through that hole in the middle.

IMG_9294

I decided to make a scrapbook lay-out that would house my flairs.  I am very much into ink splatter right now.

IMG_9295

And this is the finished product:

IMG_9302

Added some star glitter and washi tape with Super Tobie.  And of course, pics of the little tater tots in their SuperHero raincoats!

IMG_9306

Aren't the flairs a nice addition to all the backyard fun?  I love how they're different sizes as well!

Hope you enjoyed it!  SOG is having a whole week of tutorials so make sure you stop by everyday!

Adorable Owl-Days.

Hi blog friends!

It's time for the last peek at August's clear stamp sets over at Some Odd Girl!

These Owl-Days' friends just exude cuteness, so I decided to do an adorable critter trend, and went ten times fold for some whimsical overload!!! You know what they say, right? Go BIG, or go home! And go HUMONGOUS, I did!

IMG_9228

To make them stand out, I decided to color the two Owls my current fave shades right now -- mint and hot pink. I adore that patterned paper full of triangles but also wanted to make a scene. So I took the critters and plants and sentiment from Gwen in Bloom and Hey Kaylee and made a little background scene. I left them uncolored to let the Owls shine! And that they did! The pink one may actually be a bit blinding, haha!

IMG_9230

Added some bling, some punches, and washi tape, and voila!!!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Make sure you stop by Rachel's, Tabbatha's, Vera's, Mary Pat's, Judy's, and Anna Sigga'sfor more inspo! And remember, you can win some new releases if you comment on the SOG blog posts about these clear stamp goodness!

Hugs and kisses,

So, you can just bet how glad I was when I saw some of the clear releases for August over at Some Odd Girl! There are two to be showcased today, and I'll be showing you one of them here. Introducing HoliDeer:

IMG_9234

Having lived in the Bay Area, which is a part of California that never sees snow, I decided to make a White Winter scene. Used lots of sparkly tape (American Crafts) for that Holiday effect!

An Unexpected Forest Critter at the August Sketch Challenge for SOG!

*** If you're looking for my Yumi & Fumi Handmade announcement, please click HERE or scroll down! Thank you! *****

It's August 1st, peeps! And ya know what that means?!

It's time for another wonderful sketch challenge at Some Odd Girl!

Here's my creation for the sketch featuring a future August Clear Stamp release!!

IMG_9158

When we had down time at CHA, I played along with our make-n-takes. The main focus of the card is the tag there, and that was our make-n-take. I was super inspired by one of the customers who colored his Holli Deer purple so I tried the same.

Doesn't she look surreal and magical? I paired her up with turquoise as it was the color of our scarf uniform at CHA. I love the unexpected and non-traditional colors of this Holiday card. It's very unique and a bit eye-catching and it may even cause some eyebrows to raise, don't ya think? Haha! What's life without some drama? LOL!

IMG_9161

I hope you go to the SOG blog for more DT inspiration! Remember that you have all month to play! We are trying to get fifty participants so pls join in on the fun!!

Kisses to you!!

Hair Raising Challenge at Ning!

***If you're here for my SOG Project Life post, please scroll down or click HERE for it.***

IMG_8683

My favorite Disney Princess is The Little Mermaid. I remember being enamoured by the movie when it first came out. And it was exciting because I had gone to see it with my then best friend and our parents let us sit in the theater by ourselves. I know pretty much all the words to the songs even to this day. And it really warms my heart because my tater tots love the movie now too. Their eyes get big and light up when I sing the songs...they are AMAZED that I know them by heart! hehe...

So when I signed up to do the Hair Raising Challenge at the Ning Community for Some Odd Girl, I thought I'd finally color up one of the mermaids from Under the Sea Mae.

The Ning Challenge is to make the HAIR stand out. Either color up an image with prominent hair (like SOG's Rapunzel or make it very unique. I chose the latter and wanted to do sort of an ombre effect. And I thought with the mermaid, it'd be perfect because the non-traditional colors would look so cool and very sea-like.

I also knew that I wanted to make a scene and was very much ecstatic that I still had some of Traci Bautista's painted papers! Before she became an author and made it big, Traci used to sell these art kits full of artful goodies she made herself. They even included some ephemera she found and painted or altered herself. Anyway, she painted this paper and that is the background you see. Isn't it beautiful and doesn't it look just like the ocean?

IMG_8694

I think I like the card opened up to show depth and dimension of the scenic card. I regretted folding it and if you squint, you can see that line in the middle :).

The paper on the bottom is a dyed paper towel, also courtesy of Traci. I added lines of sequins because they remind me of fish scales!

IMG_8697

But back to the task at hand, I wanted her hair to also show the light reflections under the water. I think she is super gorgeous! Hope you can join in on the challenge. It runs till the ninth!

And now back to singing...

Look at this stuff,
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think
My collection's complete?......

Easter!

IMG_7903

Good Sunday to you, folks!

And for those of you celebrating, Happy Easter!!!

It might rain around here so we're planning on doing an egg hunt indoors at my sis' new place. I hope to also go to church and do some cooking!

Today, I'm showing you a card for Christmas Card Challenges # 18. The goal is to include a reindeer on your card! Remember that the challenge is optional - you really just need to create a Winter-themed or Holiday-related card. I tend to always make Christmas cards so I thought I'd change it up and make a snow day card :).

The cute reindeer was colored to show some fur texture and he is from Some Odd Girl's Deck the Hall set. And I am quite proud that I am chipping away at all of my Holiday paper stash!

I don't know about you, but this is about the time I get a little antsy with making Holiday cards. It's getting warmer and it doesn't feel like winter at all (at least in my neck of the woods). But I just gotta keep chugging along because I have my eye on the prize -- that is, lots and lots of Christmas cards come the Holiday season and less stress about getting other things done!!

So pls join me on this challenge! I hope you visit the CCC blog and look at the other inspiration from the Design Team members!

Polar Bear

IMG_7854

Hello! And good Sunday mornin' to ya!

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenges # 17, and this week it's all about CAS (clean and simple). Not my usual style but it's refreshing to do once in a while!

I used this cutie polar bear from Some Odd Girl. I really fought against myself to not add anything but the paper and sentiment washi...whew! That was hard!

Please visit the blog for more info! Thanks so much for playing along!

Dashing through the snow....

IMG_7446-1

Happy Sunday, folks!

For this week's Christmas Card Challenges (Week 4), the theme is Jingle bells!

I didn't have any patterned paper with bells but I remembered this SOG stamp. Thought I'd make a little scene. This card was pretty simple to make!

Hope you all are having a great day so far!

For our Christmas Card Challenge # 49, we've got a recipe for you. Use 2 design papers, 3 ribbons, a butterfly and make 4 layers.

Zebras and penguins.

IMG_6638-1

Hello, peeps!

For this week's Christmas Card Challenge (#42), include animal prints on your Holiday cards!

Super tricky for me! I wanted to paper-pierce, but got too lazy.... errrr, busy (yeah, that's it!). Hee hee!

I used Some Odd Girl's stamps and added lots of bling. Ended up with a glam card.

IMG_6639-1

I am diggin' it! :)

Please visit the CCC blog for more inspiration...I really love the other DT's takes on the challenge!

and a 1, and a 2, and a 3!

IMG_6514-1

Hi peeps!

It's Sunday and it's time for another Christmas Card Challenge! Y'know I am so happy to be a part of this DT! I had been inspired to make a Holiday-themed card each week. And Christmas will be here before you know it, so I'm definitely glad that I've got lots of Christmas cards ready!

For Week #40, the challenge (which is always optional) is to use three of something. I used three snowflake embellishments. I also used three patterned papers.

(Stamped image and sentiment are from Some Odd Girl).

Hope you all get to play along!

Foxy Critters.

**** PLEASE GO HERE FOR MY CATSHY CRAFTS FELT FLOWERS GIVEAWAY***

IMG_6166-1

Hello hello hello!

Thought it's finally time to talk about my current obsession... Woodland critters!

If you've been visiting for awhile, you know that last year it was Alice in Wonderland or anything tea-related.

This time, it's all about foxes, owls, and wood grain. My card today reflects them and I thought SOG's Foxy and the birdie and bunny from Gwen in Bloom were perfect. There's a little bit of chevron-like pattern here as well, which I'm very into too! And if you notice, there a gorgeous felt flower there in the corner from CatShy Crafts. Please join in here for my give-away.

Wanted to also show my love for mixing patterns and doing an unconventional scene. I submitted this card for SOG's DT call and sadly, I was not picked. I am beginning to think that being on the DT of my favorite stamp company is just not in the cards (no pun intended) for me, and I can't help but be disappointed. So sorry to be a sour puss but sometimes, a girl just needs to vent, y'know.

I do believe that things happen for a reason. I know with my kiddies, my job, and other obligations, I sometimes struggle to do my goal of three cards or posts a week. Maybe it isn't just meant to be right now. I have been concentrating on other projects including getting cards published and even scrapbooking. I'm even taking some colouring classes in the next couple of months -- I am sooooo excited about it that I even managed to add the "u" to make it sound fancier...LOL!

Oh, I digress! About critters... my son, O, had an awesome Woodland Critter 1st birthday party. I'll be posting about it soon! IT all started when Jo emailed me pics of this party and with the help of my sis, we came up with critters!

More to come!
