Doilies.

IMG_7443-1

Good Sunday morning, folks! It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge! Week 3 is about doilies!

I didn't have any doilies at all (I know, LOSER, right?!!). So I made my own with a glassine bag and some fancy punch. Even the snowflakes look a bit like doilies, eh?

See you soon!

The Joy of Trimming the Tree.

IMG_5936-1

Hi hi!

It's Sunday and it's Week 29 at Christmas Card Challenges. The challenge this week is to use stripes and dots. That's a lot of mixing patterns and shapes, folks! :)

And for those of you who have hung out with me all year here and have even joined in on all the fun, thank you! Just remember that Christmas is now just half a year away. And I'm one of those annoying people who start Xmas shopping around this time of the year, he he.

Please visit the CCC blog and get ready to be inspired! It's my favorite part of the week as a DT member -- when I see everyone's take on the optional challenge. I used up some stash and this image from Magnolia.

Have a great day, everyone! I have another post coming later!

It's a bird, it's a plane...

IMG_2902

Hello, hello! Can't believe it's Thursday already! This week went by super fast!

So fast that I forgot to post this earlier to make it in time for The Deconstructed Sketch # 23. I was three hours late :(.

I really liked how this Edwin Wants a Hug image from Magnolia turned out.

I was excited to make a card with him. But am not really happy with the finished card. Maybe it was because there were too many straight lines mixed along with the curved ones. Or it could be because of the sentiment not panning out right.

Anyway, I used more of my stash. It feels great to use up old stuff :).

Supplies:

CS- Bazzill. Neenah.
DP- Basic Grey (blue graphic). Bam Pop (horizontal stripes). DCWV (brown checks).
Stickers- Cosmo Cricket's Joy Ride.
Sentiment- individual letter stamps from Studio G.
Inks- Memento. Copics.

Have a stellar day!

Mini Tilda with Many Hearts.

IMG_2456

Good afternoon, everybody!

Today, I've got a super tiny image on a truly simple card designed on a very small sized card.

I didn't even know these mini Tildas existed, until I bought the the stamps from Alison. (Btw, she is still selling some cute ones on her blog post).

I included the clothespin to show you all exactly how small Tilda with many hearts is. But she is so freaking cute!!! I paired her up with some American Crafts (stickers) and PP (Echo Park).

Ok, I'm sorry for the short post! I can't stop yawning and nodding off here, even though I'm dying to craft. I may forego napping today.

See you here tomorrow!

Timeless Beauty

IMG_2251

Upon sifting through my pile of cards, I realized that there was not one I could give to an aunt, or my bosses for that matter. They were mostly cute-sy, and even the clean and simple ones were not 'serious' enough.

For today's card, I chose these papers from a Studio Calico kit. These Webster's pages, Crate Paper, and Studio Calico were timeless and vintage. I paired them with this Japanese beauty from Magnolia and played two challenges. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches' Sentiment Sampler and Word Up.

The first challenge is for Birthday Sundaes, a new challenge blog that focuses on birthday cards. BFF'ers, Jo, is also on the DT. This week's challenge is a photo inspiration. I took in the colors of pink, yellow, green, turquoise, cream, white, and even the black decorations on the plate. I also liked the stripes, and the holes on the trim represented the sprinkles.

The second challenge is for the Deconstructed Sketch # 16, which unfortunately is now closed :(. I missed it by five hours!

I think this card would've looked better with its corners rounded but I could not locate my punch anywhere.

Anyway, speaking of timeless...

here's my current favorite artist and song.

Her voice is so natural and raw. Anybody can relate to her music, and I love how she doesn't need anything but a piano accompaniment and a mike when she performs in front of millions.

HeArt Journaling - Wings Challenge

For Week One at the TGF's HeArt Journaling project, we were to create pages with the concept of wings.

IMG_1803

I turned to the easiest 'wings' I know -- butterflies. It would not be difficult as I already had a lot of butterfly supplies, like this American Crafts' Dear Lizzy silhouttes.

IMG_1808

And this Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

IMG_1809

I didn't want it too 'cutesy' though, so I opted to create lots of random textures. I used a grid stamp on a gel medium and glue with glitter in it. Then, when the gel dried, I colored it with metallic rub-on colors.

I picked an image that was a little bit solemn but not too sad. This Magnolia stamp had cherry blossoms on her dress which I thought went perfect with the butterfly theme. Colored her brightly though as the page was not meant to have a dark mood, rather an inspirational one.

And on the side, I've used this quote again:

"Butterfly -
As you danced in the light with joy,
Love lifted you.
As you brushed against the world so gently,
You lifted us."

-- by T.C. Ring

My book is huge - 11 x 17. I haven't decorated the front yet... I'll show that here once it's done. The project was supposed to have two pages but I missed that part on the instructions. Hoping it'll be ok as it is the first week. I really had fun making this page. There's just something refreshing about doing something new and challenging yourself.

Supplies:

Book- Canson Mixed Media XL
Gel Medium- Golden Soft Gel
Glitter Gel- Viva
Stamp- Magnolia (not sure what her name is)
PP, Butterlies silhoutte- American Crafts (Dear Lizzy's Enchantment)
Punch- Martha Stewart
Metallic Rub-ons- Craf-T Products
Misc- Copics sketch markers, Grid Stamp, Copic multiliner.

Hugs,

Asian Fashion

IMG_0259

Sometimes, I find myself making cards that reflect what is going on in my life. And these cards aren't necessarily appropriate to be given to someone else.

For example, take this card.

It depicts my hope and sadness for Japan. It also conveys my love for fashion and design.

I wanted to add that little spiraled notebook from Jolee's. And the tiny pic of the Asian ladies is from a famous restaurant matchbook in Las Vegas. Who knows? I may add this card as an embellishment to a future scrapbook lay-out.

Anyway, this Magnolia stamp was from my friend R's bday gift to me. And hurrah for using old products. All of these are at least two years old! :)

Have a fantastic day! Peace!

Sympathize with me...

IMG_0257

Did I ever tell you that I am a big worry- wart?

My hubby teases me all the time.. that I make things worse in my head and that I drive myself (& probably him) crazy. And most of the time, he's right.

And they're already watching my blood pressure with this pregnancy so I'm probably not helping in that department.

But still, most of the time, it's the woman who deos the worrying in the family, am i right? I hate it cuz i feel like i'm carrying this burden while he is sitting around, twiddling his fingers. *sighs* But that is why I married him and love him. He balances me out.

And I am so grateful for this blog and this hobby of mine. Keeps my mind off stupid stuff.

Today, I finally got some crafting done! So happy! From my previous post, I mentioned that I have a hard time making sympathy cards. When the time comes to make one, I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off.... never knowing which stamp to use and always looking around for a purplish-colored patterned paper.

For my birthday, a good friend got me a couple of Magnolia stamps. I was ecstatic. In fact, her presents delighted me -- all Japanese-themed gifts!

I sure hope this stamp isn't a bride. But I thought that with her expression and her kimono colored a melancholy blue, she'd fit in a sympathy card. I dug around my old boxes and found some dated supplies for this shabby chic card. The paper was from a 2007 Label Tulip kit (i loved their monthly kits. too bad they didn't last). The leaves were so old that they started breaking apart.

And I am utterly in love with Kim's sentiments!

Anyway, thank you for visiting. And please pray that all my worries disappear :).

Love,

Holiday Trimmings at the Workshop

IMG_8665

Happy Sunday everybody!

Isn't this Magnolia Tilda so cute? She is so much fun to color too! This card says 'Santa's Workshop' but Tilda's holding up ornaments like she's ready to trim the tree.

I wanted to talk about Christmas ornaments today. With the new house, I finally got to buy a regularly-sized Christmas tree! When we had the condo, we only had a four-footer. I just got a fake one from Lowe's because I wanted to put it up right away.

If you've known me for a while, you know I've been a sucker for unique and hand-made ornaments (see this post and this one).

So I am completely *drooling* over all these new ornaments from Anthropologie. All pics below are from them, btw.

Of course, also because of the new home, Anthro is way out of my league at this point. But you know, there's always after the holidays...I'm sure most of these will be available as sale items! :)

Hope you are all having fun getting ready for the upcoming holidays!

Bees & flowers & ... profanities???

Photobucket

hello, hello, hello!

i wanted to make a silly, happy card for a friend who went through a tough time.

i think sometimes you just need a card to make you smile despite hardships.

chose really bright colors and fun shapes.

and lots and lots of layering.

my favorite is that kol laj overlay with the symbols. the symbols are actually swear words, hehe.

can you just imagine this sweet little Magnolia girl in her adorable bee outfit cursing?

Photobucket

hey, that's life. sometimes you just have to let it out.

used my 'happy' supplies -- sassafras stickers, kol laj, and dear lizzy.

hugs & kisses,

Becoming more Mobile.

Photobucket

Good Thursday morning, peeps!

I have a semi-late post but am early for a challenge! This lay-out of the crawling monkey-butt is for the Button It Scrapbooking Challenge on the Farm blog. The goal is to use buttons on your lay-out.

I used the brackets, arrow, and some sentiment words from TGF's kit. But the baby stamp is from Magnolia. Of course, I could not resist buying it since it's such a cute little male baby!

The buttons I used were from the RVA's Camp Cute kit. I covered some of them with Sassafras stickers. The PP with mobiles and wood (this is actually contact paper!) are from the CC kit as well!

Hehe, pardon my English on the sentiment. It's not quite proper but I wanted to use the sentiment words from TGF. The letter stickers are from Making Memories.

Have a great day! I work again tomorrow but hope you come back because I've pre-scheduled a post :).

XO,

PS. The lil one took three steps un-supported towards me today!!! I hope to take a video of that and his crawling so I can show you all!
