Mommy Lhey Design Team Call Submission 2015

Hi all!

Long time, no see! I'm here, busy trying to balance being back to work after maternity leave! It's just like a woman/ mother who thinks she can have it all, huh? Well, why not? *wink wink*

Today, I'm here to showcase my recent projects to apply to the Mommy Lhey DT Call. MLD probably is my favorite planner stamp company.. Lhey has got the cutest Kawaii style and I love LOVE her handwriting!

I'd love to be part of her team and be able to use and inspire with her products on my Project Life pages (shown here), my cards, and of course, my planners!

Here's Week 7 of my PL. Valentine's pages are so delightful to me. Maybe it's the colors, or the sentiments, but they sure stir a lot of happy emotions!

The pages have stamping with the dates and some words. I feel that Mommy Lhey Designs would look so cute on these pages too -- can't wait to get my orders of her May releases! And since I feel one of my strengths in my craft is coloring stamps... here's another project I joined in on.

Anybody heard of the Daily Marker 30 Day? This was the one back in March by Kathy. It was a lot of fun and provided a lot of practice time for me. She's actually hosting a part 2 right now as well.

Can't wait to make cards with these or incorporate them in my project life/ scrapbooking/ planners!!

Thanks for visiting!!

Bicycle Kaylee in PL.

Good morning, folks!

When I applied for the Some Odd Girl DT, I included a Project Life page. I only had the background done but I wanted to include stamped images.

IMG_7969

My hubby and I were friends first who became more once we started riding bikes together. For our dating anniversary, I thought Bicycle Kaylee was perfect for this PL page.

IMG_7971

I love making scenes and Dear Lizzy was the line I chose for this one. We used to bike on hills and loved nature all around us.

IMG_7972

Do you include stamps in your PL? If so, I'd love to see!!!

Edward & Bella.

Because of the whole Twilight movie hype last month, I wanted to make a card featuring Edward and Bella. There were so many new stamps, all were very cute! But my faves have to be the oldies-but-goodies from The Greeting Farm because Edward's hair is right on!! LOL!

I also entered this card for the DT call over at TGF. I didn't make it, and I'm ok with that because so far, I am loving the new Premiere Farmers -- their work is so stunning and their creativity is stellar!

I did a semi-scenic card here. I have been obsessed with woodsy-themes lately (see my other recent forest card here).

I mean, the woods is only appropriate right? A lot of my favorite scenes from the movies happened there. I wanted to make it ultra-romantic and also show my love of mixing patterns. I used floral and lacey elements along with linear and masculine colors.

IMG_3873

The stamps are TGF's WS Camille and WS Edward. The papers are mostly from Basic Grey, and the beautiful flower on the top left corner was made by Cathy from Catshy Crafts.

Also, please take note! There's a special sale at Sparkle Creations!

Have an awesome day!

Colorful Elf Tia

**** Please go HERE for my Craft Room ReDo Blog Candy. ****

Whew...I made it!

IMG_3630

Cutting it close, but I wanted another entry for the SOG Guest DT challenge.

The patterned papers are from Dear Lizzy (grey, American Crafts) and My Mind's Eye (colorful). I added some Viva pearl drops and a wide mesh-y ribbon from my stash. Since my other entry was black and white, I wanted this to be really full of color!

My BFF'ers, Jo, teased me the other day. She said that sometimes my stuff doesn't match when it comes to crafting. Well, sorry Jo, but phooey to that! For me, art doesn't have to be matchy-matchy all the time. Why, look at couture fashion. And Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex & the City.

So, in response, I think I sub-consciously colored Warm Wishes Tia in all these colors! Nothing matches, but she is bright and happy, and makes me smile nonetheless!

In fact, it wasn't too long ago that I learned that you add blue to make black hair even brighter. Or gray to make brown hair deeper. And caucasian skin has a purple tinge to it so add violet when coloring. See... these may not make sense to the lay person, but just opening up to different techniques allow you to learn lots of new tips!! Right, Jo? :)

And guess what, I was so worried that my card wouldn't show very well without sunlight but I kinda like how this turned out.

Hugs to all!

Nostalgic Momma.

**** Please go HERE for my Craft Room ReDo Blog Candy. ****

Hi everyone!

So, whenever I finish coloring up my SOG stamps, I just swooooooon!!! I get happy with my other stamps too but with Some Odd Girl-ies, it happens every time!

They just make me smile, and I just love, love, love them!!!

And so I am trying out (yet again) for SOG's Guest DT call . Cross your fingers and wish me luck!!! :)

IMG_3003

I colored up Momma Mae black and white because I've been on a nostalgic mood lately. Call it hormones or that I'm sentimental because I started working again. But I kinda miss being 'just a mommy' (such an important role).

The DP are from Basic Grey, and those cool laser-cut embellies are from Karen-Marie. They are pretty old but still such a wonderful treasure I found when I was cleaning out the ole craft room!

Have a wonderful one!!

Me, Ruffle a few feathers?? Noooo!

Good Monday morning, everyone!!!

Today, I am super excited to show you my card for several challenges today.

IMG_2481

1) For the first annual Link Up for Pink linking party over at Gaby's blog.

As you all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Remember to do self breast exams. I'm going to share something with you: about seven years ago, I found a lump in my breast. I had it biopsied and part of it was taken out. I was very lucky that it wasn't cancerous. But I remember the fear and sadness I faced. So even if you are fortunate enough to be healthy, remind your family and friends to check monthly, to get mammograms, and even accompany them to their appointments.

I thought this card was appropriate because it's of the holidays. Holidays can be tough when you're sick or when you've lost someone dear to your heart.

I got this quote from Gaby's blog:

As we take this journey together, let us take the time to celebrate life, live for today and remember the lives of the women and men no longer with us.

2) The card is also for a DT call at the new SPARKS Challenge blog for Paper Smooches.

They are having a separate Design Team just for the Sparks Challenge only and I thought I'd try out. I just love me some Paper Smooches.

Here's the photo inspiration.

I was drawn to the ruffles first, and then the color combo next. I am (slowly) learning about how to color ruffles and pleats, and challenging myself to try out not only doing shadowing and blending, but also highlighting. I still need a lot of practice, but I like how Gifty Gwen's (from Some Odd Girl) dress turned out.

I am also liking this color combination a lot - hot pink, mint, kelly green, some turquoise and a bit of brown.

3) This card is also my entry for the Week 2 of SOG's 12 Weeks of Christmas Holiday Challenge --- use non-traditional colors.

Other supplies I used:

CS- Bazzill. Neenah Solar White.
PP- American Crafts, Dear Lizzy.
Rub-ons- Hambly.
Inks- Memento ink. Copics.

Thanks for visiting!

Lessology DT entry

Hello everyone!

My project today features an altered item for the DT call over at Lessology. It's a new challenge blog on upcycling.

I do love to upcycle when I can. My style of upcycling may not be as elaborate as most people's. But it's good to show that it could be done very simply, easily, and fast.

I took my phone case and altered it into a gift certificate holder. (I know, I know...this is my second phone cover. Go here to view the first one I upcycled).

IMG_2033 IMG_2038

I cut some strips of KI Memories' Love Elsie paper and Jolee's stickers and voila!

This is for a family member who have done a phenomenal job losing weight and becoming healthier. For her birthday, I wanted to give her a gift certificate so she could go shopping for new outfits. What's with the theme of swimming, you ask? Well, she lives in Arizona where it's currently 100- 115 degrees during the summer. And she goes swimming on most days. Plus, bikini equals sexiness, am I right? :)

Thank you for visiting! I think it is so important to upcycle. It's so easy to find things around the house that we could all use in our craft. In fact, my favorite item to use is an earring that has lost its pair, and I often use them as charms on my cards or scrapbooking. You can see an example on this post.

Have a wonderful evening!

Vote for my Tag and Blog Candies!

Ok, folks, here are my entries for the SOG Guest DT call on Facebook. Three birthday tags, and I'm glad to say that one of them made it to the second round, the top ten.

The Big Day Tobie tag made it! If you can please take a moment to vote for my tag here. To vote, you must be a fan of the Some Odd Girl page, and comment under my pic with the word "VOTE." Simply liking it won't count although I would appreciate that as well.

To tell you the truth, I thought I'd have a better chance with the other two tags but you never know. A miracle just might occur if it was meant to be. Anyway,I'm very grateful that one of my tags got picked in the first place.

Onto the topic of blog candy now...

My BFF will be celebrating her birthday soon and will be offering some uber awesome blog candy. Pls head on over to her blog for more info.

In addition, I will be joining her on a special bloghop and will offering a small candy of my own.

It'll be on Labor Day at 8 AM East Coast time (5 AM here on the West Coast). Come join us to wish her a special day and have a chance at some blog candies. (I haven't had the chance to take a pic of my blog candy for this so I'll be adding it later).

And Amy is celebrating her 1000 sheets of paper milestone here. She's got this gigantic blog candy that you gotta check out!

Thanks so much for visiting lovees,

Pappa... pappa... pappa... RAZZI

IMG_1999

Ok, when you're at a special event, do you have a friend who's always toting around her camera, snapping pictures at every whim?

And just when you think she's done clicking away, she busts out with another camera or worse, her iPhone??

Hehe, folks, that IS me!!

Sure, my friends get annoyed when I ask them to pose with their significant others for the hundredth time.

And they must get embarrassed when I take pictures of the food we are served, especially when I slap their hands away from ruining the chef's presentation because I have to change the lens of my camera to the macro one I borrowed for the weekend and get that close-up of the fennel or cilantro they used (whew! *catches my breath* That is one long run-on sentence!!!).

Yes-sirrreee-bob! That IS me!!

And I'm not ashamed to admit it. Because who do they come running to when they want copies of a specific event picture?? Whose photograph do they "steal" or "borrow" on facebook when they want to post their baby shower album?

ME!! And mine!!

Which brings me to my creation for today...

This is birthday card # 3, an entry for the Guest Some Odd Girl Design Team call. (You can find # 1 and # 2 here).

See, I think I just about found each and every camera sticker/ embellishment I own (which, btw, are mostly from the Amy Tangerine line). I wanted the tag to have a paparazzi feel to it. I mean, c'mon....if I'm giving this to one of my friends, I want it to be realistic.

Basically, it comes down to this:

It's your special day and I will be there with my cameras. Get used to the clicks and flashes (which I will not be using if there's really great lighting, mind you). Because there'll be lots of picture taking. Afterall, I only want what's best for you. And to me, that's documenting many many moments of the day the world was blessed with you.

AWWWWW. Yes, I've been told that I am very sweet. :) :) :)

Kidding aside, my goal for this tag was to be a bit shabby chic.

I like how the vintage camera stickers look. I even painted the chip board camera (from Basically Bare) to match the background (which is an upcycled packaging from American Crafts) and mute down the colors.

Of course, my favorite part though (besides the adorable Photo Kaylee stamp) is that hot pink quilled camera (obtained by fussy cutting it out of a card I bought from her shop).

Lastly, the letter stickers were from My Little Shoebox.

Haha! Man! I really embellished the heck outta this tag! LOL!

Have a stellar day!! And don't forget to take lots of pictures!

P.S. I love P.S.

**** PLEASE GO HERE TO SEE MY SOG TAG # 2. ****

So, I've had my Paper Smooches stamps for a while now. I've mostly used the sentiments (which I LOVE!). I did use the Boob Tubes this one time. But aside from these, I haven't really played with the others. I think that means I need to slow down with my stamp purchases (ooops).

For my card today, I am playing along with their August Sparks Challenge:

Use this picture from Etsy for inspiration:

The photo definitely had a vintage feel. But I also wanted to try a clear and simple card this time. My goal is to be a 'jack of all trades.' I want to be able to make all sorts of cards - be it be vintage, cutesy, ecclectic, CAS, etc.

IMG_1987

When I saw the wood grain on the picture, I knew which paper I wanted to use. Hambly! At first, my goal was to make a doghouse with this wood paper but it was just too hard and there weren't enough hours in the day for something that complicated. So I opted for the log to accompany these cute Chubby Chums.

I was also lucky enough to have the blue 'grain' so that became the river. I was inspired to do something with lace just like in the photo; hence, the lace-y cloud pattern in the sky. To finish it off, I adhered some pearls.

Supplies:
Stamps & sentiment- Paper Smooches' Chubby Chums.
CS- Bazzill. Neenah.
PP- Hambly (log, river). American Crafts (sky).
Trim sticker- Crate Paper.
Misc- Copics. Colorbok ink. Memento ink. American Crafts pearls.

I'm also entering this card for Paper Smooches' September Guest DT call. Wish me luck!! :)

P.S. I got to make this card on G's first day back to work. My kids knew somehow not to give me that hard of a time. M slept till 10 (& still took a nap), and the baby wasn't as fussy. Aside from my feeling a little sleepy, it's been an ok day. *insert happy face here*
