Let Them Eat Cake!!!

IMG_9560

Hello all!!

I really love this Mae Antoinette (aka Marie Antoinette) image from Some Odd Girl. If you don't know who M.A. is, she was the Queen of France and led a very rich and indulgent life. So I made a really over-the-top and delicious card!!!

IMG_9567

And if you'll excuse me, I'll be eating my card now! Buwahahahahaha!!!!

Embellies are from Jolee's Boutique, Martha's Stewart, and random Kawaii stickers I own! Isn't that background paper perfect too? Her story had a dark side afterall!!

Aurevoir!

SOG's September Sketch Challenge and Card Swap.

If you are looking for my Yumi and Fumi Handmade birthday blog post, please go HERE or scroll down.

Hello, folks! It's the first of the month, and that means another super duper cool-io sketch challenge over at Some Odd Girl!

Here's my take, with the sentiment location off a bit. I don't know why but I always like to be just a little different. :)

IMG_9312

I also made this card for a card swap that we were having at the Some Odd Girl community. I gave it to Miss Alexis of Digital Lace.

I used Artist Mae for the image and sentiment. But I also went a step further and made my own patterned paper and used the heart and circle in Deer Mae.

I incorporated a lot of neon here... neon ink as well as neon splatters. And there are lots of varying textures from the cork behind her to the glittered arrows.

IMG_9313

I hope Alexis loved her card. Because I am quite happy with how it turned out!

Have a great day, everyone! Make sure you go to the SOG blog for more rules and details on this challenge! We'd love for all of you to play along (SOG stamps are a must!).

Christmas Tree Mae

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!!

I'm here to show ya a fabulous new digi release over at Some Odd Girl. There are actually two, but I am signed up for Miss Christmas Tree Mae. You can view the cute Polar Cub-sicle on the blog!

IMG_9337

Now I don't know about you, but I love watching Project Runway, and Christmas Tree Mae's dress reminds me of that show. Isn't it very couture-like? I start becoming on the look-out for the perfect Holiday outfit(s) come September so she is right on time! LOL!

I am not quite pleased with my coloring of her, especially the lighting effect. But isn't she a beaut? I decided to tone down the colors, but chose really graphic items for the card elements.

Jogger Mae.

Hey blogland! I hope your week is off to a great start! Mine is! :)

It's Tuesday and that usually means a new Digital stamp reveal at Some Odd Girl!

Featuring Jogger Mae:

IMG_9167

I just love "action stamps." And she is so versatile too! She encourages me to get on the treadmill and start exercising! I love how you can basically size her up or down to fit not only cards, but also scrapbook lay-outs or even Project Life. At the last crop I went to, I saw a lady making a Weightloss Journey journal. It was so very inspiring and it truly made her proud and held her accountable in the process!

At first, I was going to give this card to a friend who runs. But I think I may just keep it as an inspiration for myself. I just may go for a walk around my neighborhood or even start up that big machine in my craftroom (and by machine, I don't mean my computer! LOL).

For the card, I kept it pretty simple. I wanted to keep the theme an uprising and encouraging one so I opted for the clouds. The sentiment is from SOG's Music Mae. I had loved working out and running to music so I included that too. And that doggie on the washi made a cute addition :).

IMG_9168

Now if only I had the balls to run outdoors!!! Haha!

Don't forget to check out more inspiration on the SOG blog, Judy's, and Rene's blogs!

Byeeeee!!

Brown Beauty.

IMG_9041

Good morning, everyone! It's digi release day at Some Odd Girl, and I am pleased to show you Horsing Around Mae.

Aren't they just both gorgeous? I've probably been on a horse just a number of times, but they are really wonderful creatures. I think I was about 7 or 8 when I rode a pony in Baguio (just north of Manila) for the first time. And then, I went horse back riding with some of my closest friends during my college years near San Francisco. The place was close to the beach, and it was so much fun!

I wanted to color this horse a darker color and show off the sheen and a bit of texture on her coat. I want to call her Brown Beauty. Her cowgirl has suede cowboy boots on that are very well worn, don't ya think? :)

I added the flowers because I thought they had the same vintage country charm as the patterned papers. I really adore this digi!

Have a fabulous day!

Violet and Pup.

IMG_8552

'Morning, all of BlogLand! I'm playing along at the SOG Ning Community's Get Moving Challenge. You basically make a card using a Some Odd Girl image who is doing something. In this case, Puppy Love Mae was opening a present and lifted up the puppy! Not to mention the amount of activity she'll get taking care of the pup! :)

I hope you get to play along! The challenge runs up till the 7th, and the winner would get such a cool prize: A 10 pound gift certificate to Quixotic Paperie and a 4x3 SOG stamp set!!!

Purple is probably the hardest color I work with, just because I don't find a lot of products that match it. Thank goodness for these papers and the felt flowers from CatShy Crafts!

Have an amazing weekend!!!

Wish You Were Here Mae.

IMG_8582

Hello hello hello!

Here's this week's last showcase of SOG's newest clear stamps! Here's Miss You Mae!

Isn't she cute? And her dress is unbelievable!!!

I am loving the color combo of yellow and gray (and even more so, mint and gray). I really love these flower cut-outs and how easily you can create dimension by curving their petals up.

IMG_8580

I am really enjoying putting "make-up" on stamps - this one wasn't quite as good of a job on smoky eyes though :). And do you see the matching flowers above? They came with the stamp set! Hope you go back to the SOG blog on WYWM! There's so much beautiful inspiration!!

Peace out!!

Under the Sea.

To see the new SOG clear stamp release of BE YOU, please go to this post or scroll down.

Hiya!!

In addition to the new clear stamps this week at Some Odd Girl, I also have a digi release to show ya. Two, in fact! Here's Sing Song Mae and a background digi of Reef.

I combined them into one image using Microsoft Word to make a scene.

IMG_8847

Anybody recognize that 'vintage' sea paper? It's from Sassafras, and I'm guessing it's from around 2007 or earlier! In fact, here's another project post with this line from 2011. I really love it for ocean-themed creations!

This card is pretty huge as I wanted details of both stamps to show. I added embellies of sequins and seahorses, and left it without a sentiment. I'm sure you've noticed that I tend to do this. I like to be able to give my cards for lots of different occasions!

IMG_8849

See you back here tomorrow for the last release of the week!

Hair Raising Challenge at Ning!

***If you're here for my SOG Project Life post, please scroll down or click HERE for it.***

IMG_8683

My favorite Disney Princess is The Little Mermaid. I remember being enamoured by the movie when it first came out. And it was exciting because I had gone to see it with my then best friend and our parents let us sit in the theater by ourselves. I know pretty much all the words to the songs even to this day. And it really warms my heart because my tater tots love the movie now too. Their eyes get big and light up when I sing the songs...they are AMAZED that I know them by heart! hehe...

So when I signed up to do the Hair Raising Challenge at the Ning Community for Some Odd Girl, I thought I'd finally color up one of the mermaids from Under the Sea Mae.

The Ning Challenge is to make the HAIR stand out. Either color up an image with prominent hair (like SOG's Rapunzel or make it very unique. I chose the latter and wanted to do sort of an ombre effect. And I thought with the mermaid, it'd be perfect because the non-traditional colors would look so cool and very sea-like.

I also knew that I wanted to make a scene and was very much ecstatic that I still had some of Traci Bautista's painted papers! Before she became an author and made it big, Traci used to sell these art kits full of artful goodies she made herself. They even included some ephemera she found and painted or altered herself. Anyway, she painted this paper and that is the background you see. Isn't it beautiful and doesn't it look just like the ocean?

IMG_8694

I think I like the card opened up to show depth and dimension of the scenic card. I regretted folding it and if you squint, you can see that line in the middle :).

The paper on the bottom is a dyed paper towel, also courtesy of Traci. I added lines of sequins because they remind me of fish scales!

IMG_8697

But back to the task at hand, I wanted her hair to also show the light reflections under the water. I think she is super gorgeous! Hope you can join in on the challenge. It runs till the ninth!

And now back to singing...

Look at this stuff,
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think
My collection's complete?......

Project Life Meets Some Odd Girl.

Hello, lovely peeps!

I wrote today's scrapbooking tutorial on the Some Odd Girl's Blog today. I hope you check it out!

My assignment was to scrap and write about how to use SOG images on Project Life! I really love incorporating both my loves for scrapbooking and stamping/ coloring, so I enjoyed this project to the moon and back!

This page was from our anniversary week. I love how SOG has so many characters and sentiments that you can really tailor to whatever you have going on in your life!

IMG_8662\

For the next two pics, I stamped using Neon ink.

IMG_8666

This sentiment "forever and always" and the mini hearts (center card) are from Love Me Not Mae.

IMG_8664

The heart on the green card is from Flirty Mae. The image below, which is stamped directly on a journal card is also Flirty Mae.

IMG_8663

For the next two pics, I made my own title card. The title card, as you know, usually states the Week documented. I used Katie's tutorial again, and printed them all on one cardstock, colored Scooter Mae with Copics, and used Mr. Huey neon mists on that left upper corner.

IMG_8806

I wasn't planning on the spray effect looking like sun beams / flare but I really like how it came out.

IMG_8769

Then, you probably already saw that I am OBSESSED with the Great Gatsby from this post. Here, I wanted to document the movie and what I loved from it -- depicted here was mainly the style and fashion of that decade.

IMG_8816

I was lucky enough to find sparkly papers and embellies. I sewed on some sequins and included my movie stubs. I used 1920a Kody and Flapper Kaylee again, but this time, I left them uncolored for a more classic effect and to make the bling stand out!

IMG_8810

Then, lastly, I talked about I tend to take pictures of colored images. Here, I used it on a journal card and left the original one for a card. You can truly make the most out of your time! And with the first pic above, I include pics of my cards so that I have them in PL even if I've given them away :).

IMG_8818

You probably already know how I feel about Project Life. As you can see, I documented big events and everyday life. And SOG stamps and images are perfect for it!!!

See y'all very soon!

Rocker Mae.

IMG_8619

Hi all!! It's time for another digi release at Some Odd Girl. Introducing Rocker Mae!

Doesn't she look like such a cool super star?? She reminds me a bit of Jem from Jem and the Holograms because of her pink hair. I was a child of the 1980s and may be showing my age here :).

I printed her with Punk Kaylee, and both are so ready to give all of us a great show!

IMG_8620

Speaking of concerts, I've got four concerts coming up this Summer, and they're all in the month of July! I'm seeing:

1. Beyonce
2. New Kids on the Block with Boyz II Men and BackStreet Boys
3. Bruno Mars
4. Justin Timberlake

Whew!! I know! It'll be fun but I'll be broke! Lol!

Anyway, back to Rocker Mae. Here's the whole card:

IMG_8616

How could I pass up getting that sequined skull from Michael's last month that was on sale? It's perfect for the card, right? And I figured that these rockstars must have tattoos, and that bird reminds me of one so I cut her up. Then, I used neon ink in orange and stamped the "You Are Rad" sentiment, which may not have been the smartest thing since you can hardly read it here. It didn't help when I filled it in with pink ink either.

You can't quite tell from this pic but there's a small strip of snakeskin print in gold. Wanted to add to Rocker Mae's bad-a$$-ness (is that a word?! I kept her make-up pretty clean as Kaylee's got the funky kind. Plus, with her yellow tones in her clothing, she's looking a l'il pop-ish with that pink hair, don't ya think? So I added some fake lashes on her :). The papers are really old, they're from a Pirate line. But with all the skulls and the pink coloring, I thought be cool for rock!

Anyway, hope you get to visit the rest of the SOG DT team for more inspiration!

Rock on, peeps!!!

SOG's Pick a Posie Mae.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!!

Today, Some Odd Girl is having a new digital stamp release: Pick a Posie Mae! Isn't she just darling?

IMG_8083

I love the flower scene and her expression! Her lips are just a bit different from the original though. I had outlined them with copics but they came on a little too thick so I added the borders with my Copic multi-liner in black. I also extended the grass by just flicking up different shades of green. Then, to finish the scene, I cut up a cloud border and used some metallic rub-ons to create the sky. I chose gray since I've been loving gray and yellow lately! And because the sky was a bit overcast (lol!).

IMG_8084

I hope you visit the SOG blog for more inspiration. Please visit the rest of the DTs to see their amazing versions of Pick a Posie Mae - Anna, Leah the Orange, and Mila.

And, folks, don't forget that the first round of Odd Idol is ending tomorrow (Wednesday) night at midnight EST.

You can read up on the details on this blog post! Remember that the grand prize totals over $600!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeekkk!!! Isn't that super awesome?!

Best Start to my Birthday Month!

Good monday morning, everyone!!!

I've got some BIG news today!! I've been jumping up and down since I found out and am so glad I no longer have to keep it a secret! This really has been the best news everrrrr!!!

I'm now an Oddie!!!

I'm on the Some Odd Girl Design Team! Woohoooo!!! It's announced today at the SOG blog too!

I first found out when I was in line for a Harry Potter ride in the Orlando Universal Studios. I grabbed my sister's arm and kept saying, "Oh my God, oh my God...can you read this email?" I even sent the email to JoAnn to make sure I wasn't dreaming. LOL! She knows how much I love love LOVE Kristy's stamps.

I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason, and it must have been the right time for moi. I had been applying forever, teehee! After lots and lots of usage and practice and determination...well, it truly is a dream come true! But ****SQUEAL*****, I'm still pinching myself!!!!!

(Okay, I am trying to prevent myself from sounding like a total idiot so let me calm down for a moment :)....) *big breath in, big breath out*

Anyway, back to the task at hand. Today marks a new sketch challenge for the month of April.

And here's my take on it:

IMG_7858

I used Love Letter Mae - isn't she beautiful and romantic? The very first time I saw her, I couldn't wait to color up that hair! I paired her up with these papers from the new Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm. I thought the ones with the handwriting were perfect. The banners were from Amy Tangerine's new line too. And I used the crinkled ribbon that Amy had given me. I added some eyeshadow to Mae and doodling along the borders for more "writing" effect.

I hope you play along! This sketch was wonderful to work with! Please see the SOG Blog for more deets and inspiration!

And to the people in line with me that one Friday morning in Orlando, I'm so sorry for the random squealing you heard. (You may also have seen my jumping up and down, BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!).

IMG_7860

Toodles,
